The Jackson Mann, Allston-Brighton’s only city-run community center, is about to be denied funding for desperately needed renovations in the upcoming City budget. As Boston’s renter capital, our neighborhood is often overlooked when it comes to community infrastructure—our one city-run center has been in disrepair for years, while most other neighborhoods have multiple, well-maintained community centers.
We have 48 hours before the budget drops to make some noise! Here’s what you can do to tell the City that we need this investment:
1️⃣ Send an email to the mayor, and make sure to cc all the decision-makers. In my bio, there’s a pre-filled email link that will automatically include key City staffers and City Councilors. Ask the City to fully fund construction of a new Jackson Mann community center for $65 million, and tell them how a new community center would make a difference in your life.
2️⃣ Like and share the post so it reaches everyone who needs to hear it!
3️⃣ When you’ve done that, mark your calendars for a rally at the Jackson Mann (Union Sq Allston) on April 14 at 5:30PM, organized by City Councilor Liz Breadon’s Office!

Dear Mayor Michelle Wu,
I am an Allston-Brighton resident emailing to ask that you support the commitment of $65M in the City's FY27-FY31 Capital Plan for the construction of a new BCYF Community Center in Allston-Brighton on the current Jackson Mann site.
This is how a new Community Center would make a difference in my life:
