Dear Friends:
I am writing to ask your support for the Boston Minstrels. We are
Boston's ONLY community singing group that provides participatory,
interactive music in area shelters and MCI Middlesex. Our 100
volunteers give over 7,000 hours of their time to reach 1,500 folks faced with
homelessness and incarceration. With a full band and scores of Minstrels
at each gig, we facilitate over thirty songfests per year! And we are in
our twentieth year doing so!
We find that expressive music is therapy and has a healing effect on
all participants. Heightened emotional states of awareness, esteem,
courage, harmony, and joy are just some of the results of our gigs. After
each gig, we leave behind a sense of meaning and caring that lingers on until we
come back.
My hope is that you see this request as an exchange. You empower us
with your resources and we empower those less fortunate. And in a sense
you become one of us. We need this exchange to continue our service to
Boston's needy.
Would you be willing to contribute $50 or $100 to our cause? I hope
you find us a worthy non profit organization to donate to this year. We
are very grateful that we can provide this service and to have your
support. We are a 501(3) and you can read all about us on our web
site!
Gratefully,
Tim

rehearsal required! Just your heart and self, and the rest takes care of
itself. Also, click on the link for our video of active footage at our
