Hi folks,
It's happening! (I remember this being discussed at a meeting 3 years ago, and look how far they've got while I was looking the other way - mostly at an excitable toddler...)
Please spread the word!

EDINBURGH
COMMUNITY SOLAR
CO-OPERATIVE | | | | |
…is an
exciting new social enterprise that is for the
benefit of the community and allows Edinburgh
residents to own solar PV arrays on buildings in
the city.
You may have heard that Edinburgh
is due to get solar panels on some of its public
buildings. The significance of this is that
Edinburgh residents will get the chance to own
these panels as a Co-operative, do something
positive for the environment and for the city,
while earning an income. We need to recruit
new members to the co-op and raise up to £2m with
a community share offer. This money will
fund the installations and ensure that the
benefits stay local. By investing, not only
will Edinburgh residents help to make the city
greener and more sustainable, they will also
receive a reasonable annual interest payment -
like saving money in a bank. Each year, all
the surplus profits of the this social enterprise
will be used to deliver the objectives of the
co–op which include educating children about
energy issues, increasing energy efficiency of our
buildings and helping to alleviate fuel poverty in
the city.
We plan to
launch this September when the share offer
document will become available at our launch event
or to download online. If you would
like to keep up to date with progress and make
sure you are one of the first to receive the share
offer document, please register your
interest at www.edinburghsolar.coop
