This 2-day Introduction to Permaculture course gives you an overview of permaculture, exploring its key principles, ethics and design tools. The course involves a good mix of theory, discussion and design examples. The course is student centred, and there’s a strong element of creativity. Topics include:
What is Permaculture?
Ethics & Principles
Learning from Nature
Design Process
Zones and Sectors
Approaches to site analysis
The course can count as Module 1 of the full Permaculture Design Course (PDC).
The course will be held at Bridgend Farmhouse, part of a community owned charitable organisation in south Edinburgh. There are workshop spaces dedicated to arts & crafts and bike repairs, a community café, and the surrounding land is being developing for food growing and community gardening.
NonStuff Industries has been teaching permaculture courses for 7 years. Former students have gone on to run their own farms, food businesses, create gardens, build houses, and some have come back to help teach on the course.
The fee for the course is linked to your income: £40 / 70 / £100 / £120.
