Ibrought a predator PO3-640 which came with 16gb kingston fury ACR32D4U2S1ME-8F (2 x 8gb) installed in slots 1 and 3 on Motherboard. they run at 3200mhz without xmp enabled in the bios. i purchased 2 x KF432C16BB1K2/32 CL16-18-18 1.35v XMP kingston fury 32gb kits and installed them (total of 64gb of 3200mhz ram) once installed i enabled xmp in the bios, The new ram runs at 2400mhz checked via the task manager graph and CPUZ. i have even tried just running one kit in the same slots 1 and 3 (As the original ram was in these slots) yet even with just 32gb of ram it only runs at 2400mhz. in the bios there is no further options to adjust voltages or speed of the ram, only to enable or disable xmp. is there something i am doing wrong to get the ram to run at the advertised speed of 3200mhz. seems as though the motherboard can run it at 3200mhz since the original 16gb can run at that speed, i am kinda new at this PC stuff as ive only ever owned consoles.

Nope, it's happening because you have two sticks of normal (JEDEC) memory and two sticks of XMP memory. The new memory has a base speed of 2400MHz, so everything clocks down to that lower speed. In order to use XMP memory in your PO3-640 you need it all to be XMP and you need to go into the BIOS and enable XMP overclocking. Either send the XMP back and get the JEDEC, or sell the JEDEC and get some more XMP.

I am having the same issue. Just bought the Predator Orion 3000 PO3-640-UR12 and I added more ram form the 16 gb installed already. Current memory is Adata- AM2P32NC8T1-BGTS. I want to add 16gb at least more for gaming. I added 16GB of Corsair - CMK 16GX4M2B3200C16. It shows it as 3200Mhz also. When installed I now have only 2133 speed. I have gone into the BIOS and checked the XMP profile also. In task manager I show it only running at 2133 with 32GB now. Is this the wrong memory upgrade?

The Corsair is XMP memory with a base speed of 2133MHz. The stock memory is JEDEC, so you need to either take the stock memory out, then turn on XMP in the BIOS, or return the XMP and buy JEDEC instead.

all memory no matter if its ddr4 or ddr5 will have different timings unless its the same exact stick, so you would have to buy another predator branded one, or one like the original, what mhz are you getting now? look in the task manager on the memory tab it tells you the speed in there, and to make your pc faster MAX out the memory, i assume yours is 64 gigs like mine, so i have 4x16 crucial in mine all the same part number, and it runs at top speed and optimal performance, and my games smoke now im getting almost 200 FPS, and the specs of ours predators are the same except mines a 5000 series running ddr5.

well, yeah i can read sometimes lol, now comprehending is another story altogether lol, wow thats expensive man whew, try crucial its the cheapest best rated memory out there, i have it and it runs flawless.

I'm not sure just how much difference you are going to see between single channel and dual channel mode at 3200MT/s. Some memory accesses will be twice as fast, some will be at the same speed. It really depends on what is doing the memory access, how many tasks are running and how those tasks are programmed. From what I understand the big differences come up when two tasks are accessing memory simultaneously, in single channel mode the second task has a wait for the first to release, in dual channel mode both can do memory access at the same time. So multi threaded apps will see the biggest gain.

I would like to know if it's sure that I can overclock my ram on Acer Predator Orion po3-640, on the bios it's not possible. Do you think that if I change the stock ram I will be able to overclock the new one? And in that case, will It be worth it to put 2x ram 16gb to get them in dual rank?

But reports from the field tend to suggest it's either not really supported or supported only with some specific configurations. Our best guess is that you need, at the minimum, for all memory to be the same XMP brand and size in order for that to work.

yeah, i was thinking the same thing or the acer predator bi frost card, its alot cheaper and probably similar performance with 16 gigs of vram compared to 12 on the 4070, not sure if either are worth the upgrade tho, the 3070 is pretty awesome i love it, im holding out for a price drop either way, no rush for a small increase in performance.

Ive done this upgrade as a relative noob with research on a po3 640, well worth it over the 3060ti. The i5 12400f is enough processor as is the standard power supply. You need to get the ASUS dual 4070 as it fits perfect and comes with the 1x8 pin power connector, the card is 200w. All I needed to do was reset the CMOS by removing the battery and then change the hardware out, after you confirm the default BIOS settings the system will restart and post with the new GPU. It helps massively to have done the HDD cage removal mod and have a Noctua NH U9S and fans. Playing Elden Ring as an example I get 60fps (game is locked at this) on 4K max settings, CPU 65c, GPU 64c and system 44c in a 25c room. Its the orion 3000 I've always wanted now so I'd say go for it.

This is what it looks like, notice the air space with the HDD cage gone and an extra grill I put in too. All the Noctua stuff is the same as recommended on the forum, I did away with the frostblades. You can see the ASUS 4070 dual fits perfect and the 1x8 pin is not bent against the glass. The i5 12400f can handle it as I use a 48" 4k tv with only 60hz so processor is a mute point, goes without saying anyone with high refresh on lower res will need more processor.

thats awesome and looks great, all noctua fans? now throw a fan on the top rack for exhaust and maybe lay one on that lower grill as intake, it may help cool even more, i want a bottom fan, but when i removed my hdd caddy i only had 6 holes on the bottom, so i would have to do alot of drilling lol, so i have 7 total and 9 if ya count the gpu ones lol, i ended up putting 2x120mm cooler master mobius high velocity fans on my noctua cooler, mine came with a 3070 RTX, one day ill grab a 4070 when the price drops, maybe lol
