Dear Michel

Many thanks for the efforts.

AS you arrange to work with the bureau members to roll out the strategy,  kindly take not of the below and role it out across the country

Following the launch of online registration www.ebafosa.org , the process of registration has indeed been simplified and decentralized and the database is growing in multiples and this indeed is admirable. This on-line member registration process, together with manual registration where necessary is a continuos process and should continue

Quality membership emphasis

However, tracking and registering quality membership - individual or organizational - that are involved in practical planned or on-going initiatives on EBA driven agriculture / value chains and value addition enterprises seems to have stalled. This is the most important building block of EBAFOSA and will ensure EBAFOSA builds on synergy with what is going on in-country, rather than re-inventing the wheel and duplicating efforts. Hence ensure efficiency and rapid progress.

To this end, the following is reiterated and emphasized,

1) National bureau should submit the protocols of EBAFOSA to local and national governments in their respective country. Be reminded that outcome 10 of the Nairobi Action Agenda requires that this step must be taken. The UNEP is an international, intergovernmental body whose mandate is to influence pro-environment policy making in each country toward the collective self good of the world, hence approaching the national minister or governor etc in your country is done within a mandate of the UN. This is a crucial awareness creation step to garner country by-in of this joint AU / UNEP policy initiative on EBA.

The strategic documents that should be shared are

- The Nairobi Action Agenda
- The Constitution of the EBAFOSA
- The illustrative and write-up on benefits of EBAFOSA

2) The National Bureaus should identify focal persons in each sector in line with inclusivity principle implied in articles 4(3) and 14(1) of the EBAFOSA constitution. This is simplified and elaborated in the document on "category of stakeholders to mobilize" earlier shared and focal persons in each of those categories will have to be established.

3) These focal persons will then be country point persons to identify and mobilize active actors in their respective sector who will then be registered as back bone branch members. These members' initiatives will be used as background setters during branch launch.

Beyond branch launch, EBAFOSA will build synergy with these already on-going initiatives to grow EBAFOSA throughout the country. This synergy will be built by facilitating partnerships between these diverse category of actors on the EBAFOSA platform. This will result in introducing EBA techniques for on-farm production and linking these ecological producers with supply and demand value chain opportunities and services especially  it markets, storage, transportation, financing etc and linking this whole process with policy makers in the country.

Best regards
