Morning everyone,

Wanted to drop a line to keep our grab sample conversation moving.

Here is a doodle for setting up our next call: http://doodle.com/43datecuz52ndggu Now that we have a better sense of who is testing where, and for what. I hope we can discuss making concrete some of the coordination ideas below.

Below are notes from our last call.

Thanks everyone!
Katey

Erin Savage made the great suggestion that it might benefit us to coordinate to some degree around where we're sampling and what for--so that 1) we aren't duplicating efforts and 2) so that the collective resources we have can pack a little more punch. Attached are some of her initial suggestion of what coordination could look like--as a place to start.

Coordination

Our testing can work at multiple levels (as in, for organizing, for lawsuits, for lobbying and for regional campaigns)

Technical comments/responses to:

Selenium regulation changes

Minefill Rule—public comment period open this summer

Stream Protection Rule—public comment period open this summer/fall

AML Testing—more about trying to leverage funds for AML projects

*can work this AML data into other technical comments

*AML also has a strong “transition” link and help bridge those conversations

What kind of coordination could be useful?

Would like to know where people have collected grab samples

*AppVoices needs to get way for folks to show that testing on the site

                        Emergency funds and spill response

                        Can share some resources

Appealing for funding collectively or helping one another find funding?

                        Sharing templates

Touching base around comment periods to maximize response

Communication and framing (both what the impacts are and why we are doing it)

(In watershed scenarios that cross states, help communicating across states)

Next Steps

Have another call to touch base about implementation

Write up campaigns and how they could be helped by grab sampling

Katey can pull up old notes for some of these ideas that are old

Katey can send a doodle around

Who wants to be in listserv? (low traffic!)

Do folks want a regular check in?
