Startup Village in association with Kerala Startup Mission and Federal bank are glad to exclusively offer the students of Kerala an exciting opportunity to do a startup while still at college, through the Startup Box Initiative
,
please find a brief of the
initiative
 below:

As technology continues to evolve, it brings with it new opportunities and challenges for educators and students. Startup Box Initiative is a novel way to simplify the path for up to 50 talented teams (teams of 4-5 college students) into technical entrepreneurship. The initiative will provide up to 50 teams comprising of college students the Startup Kerala Tool Box. The college students in the selected teams are expected to be the brightest in Kerala.

The first edition of Startup Box shall be based on the FinTech(Financial Technology) theme. The initiative will be overseen by the Kerala Startup Mission(KSUM) formerly known as Technopark TBI and would be implemented by Startup Village in association with Federal Bank. Post the first edition, the initiative would be run on themes like IoT(Internet of Things), Mobile Apps, Etc.

The Startup Box shall be a 6 months program focused on providing students the first hand exposure of running a digital age startup. The selected teams shall be provided with Startup Boxes comprising of essential tools(iphone 6, nexus 5, mac book, etc) and services(partnership deed, etc) required to work on their idea and develop a prototype out of it. Snap Shot
  1. The deadline to apply for this program is Monday, 6th July 2015.
  2. To apply students must form a team of 4-5 students (a mix of genders would be highly appreciated).
  3. The team must consist of at least 2 persons who are technically very sound and have a decent expertise in any of the frontend or backend programming languages.
  4. Developers would be a key element in the team as they would form the backbone on development of the idea, hence expecting the best coders of your college to apply for the initiative.
  5. The selected teams shall be provided with potential 40 FinTech ideas, which the teams are free to chose on a first come first serve basis. This saves the time for idea discovery and provides a industry relevant idea to work on.
  6. The teams shall also be offered API`s of Federal Bank for their product development.
  7. As of now the 1st edition is open only for Final year students, as this would provide an opportunity for them to convert their FinTech Idea into their Final Year Project.

Ideally out of the 4-5 member team, other than the developers the rest of team members can contribute in roles like Design, Operations and Marketing, making this an initiative any talented student can try out irrespective of their branch of study.
