Hi back Pauline,

Thanks for getting back to me . . . no, sadly the kitchen really wasn't
clean, and last week there were similar drippings over the cooker
top/burners, which I'd cleaned up last Thursday morning, so it really wasn't
spotless then either. This week the counter top in the middle was quite a
mess (I was not the only one to be surprised at the state of it), and same
drippings over the cooker. The kitchen fan over the cooker was also left
on. Part of my duties are to check that the kitchen and cooker are in a
suitably appropriate hygienic state for vulnerable adult service (Luncheon
Club on Thursday), so this is why I have to be as scrupulous as I can be.

No, the Cubs and Scouts hire only the main hall, which obviously includes
the foyer and toilets, and they should not have free run throughout the
place. They definitely should not be in the New Hall at all, and not the
kitchen of course. As I say, since cleaning is now my volunteer duty,
keeping these spaces ready for the next user group is important, and anyway,
sometimes there might be meetings in the New Hall while the Cubs/Scouts are
occupying the Main Hall.

Okay, no problem, I was able to clean the kitchen up in a timely manner in
both instances, and I'm glad we have this clarified. So we'll just let this
matter slide, shall we, and you'll endeavour to keep the activity restricted
to the Main Hall and foyer only, right? Or if you want to use the kitchen,
you'll book it with me, of course, and maybe we can negotiate some price
which reflects usage, dependent on an agreement on how clean it would be
left. As I mentioned, the trustees expect to be considering hire rates at
our next meeting, and I will try to investigate how we can be fair to every
user group.

Just so you know, the regular session hire fee for the Main Hall should be
£20, but over the course of a full 12 week term (as for last autumn's term),
we have charged a flat rate of £150, or basically £12.5 per session, so we
have been doing the best we can to support the Cubs and Scouts.

Many thanks,
Larry
