Hello everyone,
Cubs and Beavers is to be held at the Village Hall on Tuesday evening at the usual times. We are hoping to star gaze so keep your fingers crossed for clear skies! We have someone who is coming to talk to the children for about 20 minutes about star gazing and astronomy and if the skies are clear we can go out into the park to look at the sky. Please ensure your children have coats, hats and gloves.
Ive attached a copy of the parent helper rota and also a run down of the programme we are doing up until the Easter holidays.
Look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday evening.

Hello all,
We hope you have all had a lovely Christmas and would like to take this opportunity of wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year.
We have some exciting things lined up for the term ahead. Once they are fully finalised we will send you all a copy of the plan. We are still trying to finalise a Fire Station visit.
Tomorrow evening we are meeting at the Village Hall in Allendale and are having a Skype session with Susan Gebbles (Scouts Leader) who is a Marine Biologist and is currently in South America drilling in the ocean. She kindly offered to do skype sessions with cubs/beavers and local schools. She has Whitfield First Schools mascot on board with her and sends them a regular blog. We will of course be playing games etc too.
A polite reminder that as it is the start of a new term fees of £15 are due please.
Looking forward to seeing all the children at 6pm tomorrow evening and hearing all about their Christmas holidays and what they got from Santa.

Its our last cubs/beavers session before Christmas on Tuesday the 18th, at Allendale Village Hall 6pm.
We will be having an evening of playing games, handing out badges etc.
The Scouts will be joining us for this event (as there are only about 4 of them), and they will be able to help us run the games.
Looking forward to seeing you all there.
I have received a lovely Christmas card from Sylvia Milburn thanking us all for being present at the Christingle, presenting the flags and helping with the collection. They hope we will be able to help out every year, which I am sure we can. I will bring the card to the session on Tuesday to show all the children.
We will start back again at Allendale Village Hall on Tuesday 8th January 2013.

I promise no more e-mails after this one for a while!!
We are going to Mohope Youth Hostel on Tuesday evening to make Pizza's. Pauline (Leader) has kindly let us have the run of her kitchen, as it is a lot bigger than the Hall.
We were hoping to extend the session for half an hour and start at 5:30pm to finish at 7pm as while we are waiting for pizza's to cook we are hoping to invest the new beavers and cubs with a short ceremony. We hope this is OK with everyone.

Hello all,
As most of you probably know.....its the Christingle Service at the church in Allendale on Sunday at 3pm. Most of the cubs and beavers will be attending with their schools to sing at some point during the service. We have had permission from Allendale and Whitfield Schools that the cubs and beavers can wear their cubs and beavers uniform but obviously still take part with their schools.
The Scouts will be presenting a flag to the vicor at the start of the service and we would like the three sixers Morrin, Bryony and Aaron to follow the Scouts down with the cubs flag to present to the vicor and then go and sit with their schools. Ruben, Theo and Willow, if you are able to attend too you may sit with the scouts during the service.
As part of the Promise Challenge Badge we have to attend something like this to gain a point, so the more cubs and beavers we have attending in their uniform the better.
We hope to see you all at the Christingle on Sunday, its a lovely service and really gets you in the moor for Christmas. Looking at the weather forecast......we may even get a little snow!!!
Regarding the weather..... as we are now in winter, could you all check e-mails or Facebook prior to the Tuesday evening sessions. If we have to cancel because of the weather for any reason I will e-mail everyone and post on the cubs page on Facebook.

Hi everyone,
Cubs and beavers is this Tuesday the 23rd October running at the usual time of 6pm until 7pm at the Village Hall.
We are having a Halloween evening. Could all the children please bring with them a ready scooped out pumpkin, which we are going to decorate with them at the session. We will be apple bobbing and playing games too.
The Co-op in Allendale currently has pumpkins on offer and I believe they are any two for £3, so maybe a few of you could get together and buy your pumpkins to make a saving.
We look forward to seeing all the children on Tuesday evening.

Next session the 25th is going to be held at Kingswood (Dukeshouse Wood) in Hexham and we are going to be doing orienteering run by an organised group. (Turn right at the tap and spile and straight up to the top of the hill, sign on right for Dukeshouse and Kingswood). The session will start at 5pm and finish at 6:15pm and you are to drop the children off and collect them from Dukeswood. The cost of this session will be £7 per child so please ensure the correct money is brought on the night. Please ensure that all the children are wearing suitable clothing for the weather conditions and also they must wear their wellies, because even if it is sunny!!! there are bound to be puddles and mud!!
Please can you let me know if your child can not make this session.

I hope you and your children have had a lovely summer holiday and are all settling back into school.
I would like to inform you all that we have a new leader too, Phil Walter has decided he would like to be a leader instead of an occasional helper. We think this is great news as we are one leader down for a while as Rachel is on maternity after having her baby.
We have some great programmes planned for the children up until Christmas and I attach a list herewith so you all know what is happening in each session. For the parents that are on the rota to help out I will be sending you an e-mail before the session in which you are helping containing a more detailed programme so that you know exactly what is planned.
We will be visiting a few different places this term and some require a payment on the night. The orienteering at Kingswood in Hexham will be £7 per child and the Throssel visit requires a donation which we suggest £2 per child. We will throughout the year try and visit different places which may require an additional fee but we will keep these to a minimum.
Talking of fees...... This terms fees are now due which are £15 per child please to be paid on the first session Tuesday 11th September. For the new starters an additional £8.50 per child is required to cover the cost of neckers, badges and books. Many thanks in advance.

Hello all,
I hope that all the cubs and beavers enjoyed themselves last night at the campfire evening.
A few parents were telling me that cubs have gained badges and have had their books signed by teachers etc. (i.e. the first school did a performance last week) If they have had their books signed by someone other than yourself I can order them that badge. If they do an activity badge during the holidays and you are supervising them, they will need to follow all the instructions as per the website www.scouts.org as that has more info than the books themselves about specific criteria etc. Then in September when we resume they can bring their documentation and books etc to the session and one of the leaders will look at it and sign them off for a badge if they have done everything correctly.
I am going to order some random badges so hopefully will have the badges I need there and then. If however I havent got the specific badge they have done I will need to order it but it only takes usually two weeks (so therefore they would have it for the following session).
If you could all let me know as soon as possible what badges they have gained via their teachers I will order them and give them out on our first week back after the holidays, which if Im correct is the 11th September.

I hope that all the cubs and beavers enjoyed themselves last night at the campfire evening.
A few parents were telling me that cubs have gained badges and have had their books signed by teachers etc. (i.e. the first school did a performance last week) If they have had their books signed by someone other than yourself I can order them that badge. If they do an activity badge during the holidays and you are supervising them, they will need to follow all the instructions as per the website www.scouts.org as that has more info than the books themselves about specific criteria etc. Then in September when we resume they can bring their documentation and books etc to the session and one of the leaders will look at it and sign them off for a badge if they have done everything correctly.
I am going to order some random badges so hopefully will have the badges I need there and then. If however I havent got the specific badge they have done I will need to order it but it only takes usually two weeks (so therefore they would have it for the following session).
If you could all let me know as soon as possible what badges they have gained via their teachers I will order them and give them out on our first week back after the holidays, which if Im correct is the 11th September.

Please can you all make sure your children have midge repellent on for tomorrow night. Ive been up there tonight setting up the treasure hunt with Kim and we've been eaten alive!!! Also please bring wellies and raincoats. Hopefully if we are all prepared the rain will stay away (wishful thinking I know...but we have to stay positive!!).
Dont forget to bring an old mug for the hot chocolate!
Those of you who are bringing wood tomorrow night for the campfire, thank you so much. If anyone else could possibly get a hold of some wood, branches etc we would be most grateful. We are going to burn the scarecrows we made for the scarecrow competition too, it will be like guy faulks!!!

This is just a quick e-mail to inform you all that the Scouts will not be joining us until 6:30pm on Tuesday. We have therefore decided that we will run over our normal times and will run the session from 6pm until 7:30pm, as a one off for the last session of term. If however any of you feel that that time is too late for your children please feel free to collect them at the normal time of 7pm. We totally understand if the beavers want to leave at 7pm and hope that some of the older cubs, or all the cubs stay on to enjoy some with the scouts.
Unfortunatly we will not be handing out neckers to the beavers and cubs as some of the neckers have been held up, or lost by Royal Mail, unless they turn up before Tuesday. We feel it is not fair to hand them out to some and not all. We hope you all understand but we promise to have them all for the first session back in September.
Looking forward to seeing all the children, as always, on Tuesday.

Hello all, we have finalised the plans for the campfire outdoor meeting at Sinderhope Community Centre on Tuesday 17th July 6pm - 7pm where the Scouts will also be joining us.
Could you all bring your children straight to Sinderhope Community Centre for 6pm on the night please. Could all children please bring suitable outdoor clothing and footwear for appropriate weather and also each bring a mug each. We are planning on doing a treasure hunt followed by roasting marshamallows and hot chocolate and a sing song round the fire. We will also be giving the children their neckers and woggles.
Mike Robinson is hosting Scouts as a normal session on Tuesday 10th July 7pm - 8pm and we were wondering if anyone has any odd bits of wood, branches, etc., lying round whether they would be kind enough to bring it to the Village Hall on Tuesday 10th so the Scouts can gather it all together as they will be in charge of the campfire. If we can all try and bring a little we should have enough for a good fire.

We hope the children had an enjoyable evening at Beavers/Cubs tonight. I for one as a parent of a cub was very proud to watch him being invested. I now however have the job of sewing on all the badges.....in the right place!!! The booklets the children got tonight explain where to sew them as does the Scout website.
Could all children please bring with them to future sessions a named drink bottle with their preferable drink in please so we can leave them on the stage and they can get a drink as and when they want one. We have been providing water but there is a shortage of glasses and no means of drying up afterwards...the kitchen is quite sparse.
Also could you please make sure your child's name is marked clearly in their uniform as quite a lot of them take them off during the session. Sorry for pointing out the obvious.
Our next session will be the evening of Tuesday 17th June hopefully at Sinderhope....we are still finalising plans and as soon as we know you will know.

Diane Butcher has offered to take a photo of your child being invested so I can e-mail you all a picture of them for you to keep. If anyone has any objections to this please let me know.
We will be leaving a three week gap until the next session as it should have been 10th July but we have been informed that a lot of children wont be able to make it as the First School in Allendale have something on. We will therefore be running our last session before we break up for the summer holidays on Tuesday 17th July when we hope to be able to get together with the scouts and have an outdoor evening up at Sinderhope Community Centre with a campfire etc. I will keep you all posted about this.

Dear Parents,
I hope al the children have enjoyed their half term holidays and are raring to come back and join in with Beavers and Cubs tomorrow evening.
With the Olympics coming up we are going to be concentrating on this theme for the next two sessions so could all children please make sure they have suitable footwear. Beavers and Cubs are going to be separated in the next two weeks to concentrate on different tasks which will lead up to them gaining another badge.
Congratulations to the beavers and cubs who gained their artist badges, we will be handing these out when we invest the children which will be the session of the 26th June. We were thinking if we could possibly start the session half an hour earlier on Tuesday 26th June i.e. 5:30pm then we could get the investment procedure done by 6pm and then carry on as normal until 7pm. I hope this will be OK with everyone as it is important to get the children invested and you are welcome to stay and watch this procedure. It basically involves the children saying the beaver/cub promise and we then hand them a booklet to keep (which has lots of information) and they get their members badge and world badge and they will get their artist badge too.
For the final session, Tuesday 10th July, before we break up for summer we hope to be able to go up to Sinderhope Community Centre and have a campfire and toast marshmallows etc., a kind of end of term adventure! We are currently in the process of sorting this out.

I hope al the children have enjoyed their half term holidays and are raring to come back and join in with Beavers and Cubs tomorrow evening.
With the Olympics coming up we are going to be concentrating on this theme for the next two sessions so could all children please make sure they have suitable footwear. Beavers and Cubs are going to be separated in the next two weeks to concentrate on different tasks which will lead up to them gaining another badge.
Congratulations to the beavers and cubs who gained their artist badges, we will be handing these out when we invest the children which will be the session of the 26th June. We were thinking if we could possibly start the session half an hour earlier on Tuesday 26th June i.e. 5:30pm then we could get the investment procedure done by 6pm and then carry on as normal until 7pm. I hope this will be OK with everyone as it is important to get the children invested and you are welcome to stay and watch this procedure. It basically involves the children saying the beaver/cub promise and we then hand them a booklet to keep (which has lots of information) and they get their members badge and world badge and they will get their artist badge too.
For the final session, Tuesday 10th July, before we break up for summer we hope to be able to go up to Sinderhope Community Centre and have a campfire and toast marshmallows etc., a kind of end of term adventure! We are currently in the process of sorting this out.
We look forward to seeing all the children tomorrow.

The children learned all about different trees and did some bark rubbings etc.
The drawings that the children did to go towards the third task of their artist badges were fantastic. We will be handing out the badges next session, Tuesday 12th June.
Those chidren who havent yet got uniform must have by the 12th June please and also another polite reminder to those who have not yet paid the fees of £15 for the term and £8.50 registration must also do so by the 12th June as we want to get all the children invested and can not do so until everyone has uniform and has paid the fees. The investment is whereby all the children get a book each, either beaver or cub, their neckerchiefs and woggles and the joining badges too.
We did flag break for the first time tonight and plan on doing that each session.
Hoping that everyone has a lovely half term holiday and lovey jubilee celebrations.

We have tonight errected the scarecrows the children made and they are now proudly abseiling down the front of the Village Hall. Im sure all the children will be deighted when they see them.
We are short of Leaders for Tuesday the 29th May due to family circumstances with three of our leaders. I was wondering if Phil Walter and David Nattrass could help out please as they have both applied to be occasional helpers. Please let me know if you guys can help or any offers of help would be appreciated. Many thanks in anticipation.

We have nearly finished building a cub and a beaver, boy and girl which we are going to enter in the local scarecrow competition. It was lots of fun and the children all seemed to enjoy the task and they did it all by themselves (with a little bit of help). Big thanks to Yvonne Conchie for staying and helping us too.
We have asked the children to draw a landscape picture for us of what they can see from their window, in pencil, colour, paint or collage style, and to bring it with them to the next session of Beavers/Cubs on Tuesday 29th May to show us all. That will be their third task for them to gain their artist badge.
Any children who were not in attendance on Tuesday 1st May when we all made notebooks with Katie Jackson can make their own notebook, greetings card or clay model to bring with them to the next session as the notebooks counted as the first task for the artist badge.
Jamie Dover-Nattrass made a lovely notebook and brought it to the session tonight to show me as he missed the last session.
A polite reminder to you all that as we have had our third session we really do need all fees paid by the 29th May, the fees are £15 for the term and £8.50 registration fee. Thank you to those who have already paid.

Hi everyone. I hope all the children had a fantastic time at their first Beaver/Cubs session and we look forward to seeing them all again on Tuesday 1st May 6 - 7pm at Allendale Village Hall. Hi everyone,
Just to remind you all that Cubs and Beavers is on tomorrow evening at Allendale Village Hall 6-7pm to replace the session we lost last week because of the snow.
Enclosed is the list of parent helpers. Obviously the parent helper for the 22nd is now the parent helper for tomorrow evening.
Also a polite reminder for those who havent paid their fees yet. Please could you do so this week. For the three new members, dont worry about fees yet until the next session.
Could all cubs and beavers please wear their uniforms each week complete with neckers and woggles too.

Hi everyone,
Cubs and beavers is on tomorrow evening at the usual times at the Village Hall where we are Having a games evening and investiture for new starters.
Another polite reminder to those who haven't paid their fees yet, please can you do so tomorrow evening.
New starters, if they are enjoying it and planning on becoming permanent beavers, can you also pay your fees as we are planning on investing the children tomorrow evening, when they will get their neckers, woggles and books. New starters fees are £23.50 and £15 per term thereafter.

We will be running a map reading/orienteering session and the beavers and cubs will be separated for this because of age suitability.

Hello All,
Firstly, regarding our session on Tuesday 26th February, we are short of three leaders, Jona, Pauline and Rachel are all away so there will be myself, Phil and Kim and Yvonne Conchie as parent helper. I was wondering whether anyone else would like to volunteer to stay and help us run the session?
Secondly, we have been approached by the Allendale Lions regarding the Saurday of May Fair weekend. They have asked us if we would like to run a hot dog stall, they will provide everything, stall, hot dogs, buns, sauce etc., all we have to do is turn up and run it for approx 4 hours. They will take the cost of the hot dogs etc out of the money that is made and 1st Allen Valley Beavers and Cubs can have the profit. Its something we think is too good to turn down. We can then treat the Beavers and Cubs at the end of the summer term to an outing somewhere i.e. climbing wall, cinema or something like that.
I am willing to stand on the stall for an hour and was wondering if any of you would like to volunteer for say half an hour or an hour. It is too goood an opportunity to miss.
If anyone is willing to help out with staying at the session on the 26th Feb please get in touch.
If anyone is willing to help out on the hot dog stall, again please get in touch so I can organise a rota.

We are holding our session tomorrow evening, the 26th February at the normal times 6-7pm at Allendale Village Hall. We will be discovering and talking about compasses. If anyone has a compass they would like to bring along it would be of very good use as the last time we searched the back room we couldnt find them!! If not do not worry, I have printed out compass pictures and the hall will be marked North.

In our session this week we are splitting the Cubs and Beavers up.
The Cubs are going to go up to the Fire Station for a visit and parents are therefore required to drop off the children at the Village Hall at 6pm as usual, but to collect the children from Allendale Fire Station, Shilburn Road at 7pm. This is so they can really benefit from their visit there and have as much time as possible.
The Beavers are staying at the Village Hall to do a session about Safety which will cover their Safety Activity Badge. We will be discussing the Green Cross Code, Water Safety Code, Stranger Danger and Dangers in the home. There is an exciting event planned just for the Beavers at the Centre of Life. Please see attached flyer.
If any or all of the beavers are interested in this sleepover event please let me know as soon as posible. The cost for this event is £25 per child. I have to hand the forms and money in by mid April.
Obviously there will be two or three of us leaders present with them too.

Hello everyone,
Hope everyone is fit and well and the sickness bug hasnt hit too many people.
This week at our session we are doing the oposite to what we did at the last session.
The Beavers are going up to the Fire Station - parents to drop off at the Hall at 6pm and collect from the fire station at 7pm please.
The Cubs are staying at the Hall to discuss personal safety issues and gain their badges.
This is our last session before the Christmas, ooops........ Easter break!! We start back again on Tuesday 16th April.
I will be e-mailing you at some point during the Easter break with a schedule of what we have planned for the next term.

Hello everyone,
Mike from scouts has a load of trees we need to plant.
We plan on planting some of them at Whitfield first school on Sunday 14th April at 1.30pm.
Any cubs or beavers who would like to participate in this event of helping our community are more than welcome to come along.
Parents are asked to stay with the children as we are not sure how long we will be there and we may even move on to another location if we have time.
I'm sure this will be a tick on one of the badge areas too.
Can you let me know by return email those of you who are interested in helping.
I won't be at cubs and beavers tonight as I am suffering from the sickness bug and don't want to pass it on.
Hope everyone has a nice evening and I look forward to hearing from you with regard to planting some trees.

Firstly I would like to apologise to you all that the last session before Easter didnt quite go as planned due to me being poorly. So sorry about that. We plan on doing the session the first week back in order to hand out badges etc.

I hope youve all had a lovely Easter break.
We start back at Cubs and Beavers on Tuesday 16th April at 6pm at Allendale Village Hall.
I have attached a copy of the programme planner for this term for your information. You will see that some sessions start earlier and the last one lasts a bit longer.
There is talk that we would like to extend our sessions to an hour and a half after the summer holidays. We are proposing to start at 5:30 and finish at 7pm. Would those times be OK with everyone?
The beavers are going to be doing a scavenger hunt in the Park on Tuesday evening. Could we ask that the beavers each bring in a small match box please.
As it is the start of a new term, fees are now due too of £15 per member.

Suggestions for games on Tuesday night
· Noah’s ark
Animal card must make noise to find their pair. – needs animal snap cards or someone drawing some animals
· Chopstick Game
3 large bowls tray of peas 3 sets chopsticks
one player runs to end of room picks up pea with chopsticks, puts it into bowl runs back and next team member goes
winner has most peas in bowl – might be difficult for beavers but I have a number of pairs of chopsticks
· skittles
– there are some in the back room and small balls
· up Jenkins
two teams sitting either side of a table one team passes a coin from person to person under the table. One member of the other team shouts up Jenkins and all have to put their hands on the table. The other team have to say who they think has the coin.
· Stick in the mud
· Hockey
Two teams use a frozen freezer block as a puck.
Any good?
I will try to put a folder of games together maybe use dropbox so we can all share and add to it. unless anyone knows a better way?

I hope the beavers had fun tonight doing a scavenger hunt.
I have received health forms back for some beavers along with the money for the sleepover. So far we have 8 beavers who are attending this fantastic event.
For the new starters tonight, Ive attached the flyer so you can see what its all about. Anouk is more than welcome to come on the sleepover too.
If any Beavers wish to attend the Beaversnore-a-saurus I will need completed forms and money by this Saturday, as I have to forward everything to Headquarters before the 25th, as that is the deadline.
My address is 2 Nilston Rigg Cottages, Langley, landline 01434 684511 or mobile 07758 256327. Please feel free to drop the forms and money through my letterbox before this Saturday so I can send everything off.

We are going to make it fun however and be using cooked spaghetti!! Also the cubs will be helping to teach the beavers how to tie their shoe laces. If the children could come with a pair of shoes with laces that would be great, otherwise it kind of defeats the object! If they havent any shoes with laces, not to worry, please dont go and buy a pair especially as I am sure there will be plenty who have.

Hello everyone,
I hope all the children have had a fantastic half term and enjoyed Allendale Fair.
Just thought you would all be pleased to know that we raised £226 for cubs and beavers from the hot dog stall we did at the Fair. Sainsburys donated all the hot dogs, buns, sauces and onions and the Allendale Lions provided us with the gas burners so all the profit was ours. Big thank yous again to those of you who gave up your time to help out. We are planning some sort of activity for the children at the end of term and will be asking them for their input. We will also be getting the children to do a couple of thank you cards, one for Sainsburys and one for the Allendale Lions.
This week our session is going to be split. The beavers are going off to the Library for their session and the cubs are staying at the Hall to erect tents in the park.
We are still currently trying to organize a camping trip for the cubs but are hoping to be able to join the Scouts on theirs. Further details about this will follow at some point in the near future.
Looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday at the normal time of 6pm - 7pm.

Firstly can I say a huge thank you for all the effort you are putting into the cubs - I don't know where you get your energy from - but it is very much appreciated! The sessions you are organising are fantastic and I am so pleased Luke is part of it.
Luke has really been enjoying being part of the cubs, however I was wondering if it would be at all possible for him to change the group he is in. I know the Sixers were chosen because of their ages, but I find at school that if a kid thinks their position of responsibility is theirs by right, rather than having to earn it, they can become a little bossy. Luke was quite upset last session because, despite wanting to join in and give ideas about building the bird boxes, he was not allowed to because his sixer took over. I am worried that if you are putting up tents tomorrow - something that should be a team effort and very rewarding - Luke will get pushed aside again if his sixer is left in charge. I really want him to continue with cubs, but there is a real chance that because of how his sixer 'rules' he will want to drop out.
I have been unsure whether or not to raise this with you - I do not want to cause any extra work, but if it was easy to change Luke's group, then we would both very much appreciate it!

Hello all,
Would you all let me know at the earliest opportunity which of your children will be able to attend at Dukeshouse in Hexham for an indoor climbing wall session on Tuesday 30th July at 5pm - 6.15 please. I need to inform them of numbers etc.
This is a treat for the children from the money we made at the Allendale Fair hot dog stall.
If I don't hear back by say Monday next week then I will presume your child is unable to attend.

Could all children please bring suitable clothing for this, i.e. if its raining a waterproof jacket and wellies as we will be outside most of the evening. Also some insect repellent on your children just before they arrive would be a good idea.

Hi all,
On Tuesday we are having an extended session of outdoor scouting in Frolar Woods just outside Allendale (up the Carrshield Road and turn right up a single track (woods on your left up the hill) until you get to a turn on your left and drop off there).
Claire Nevin has kindly let us have the use of these woods for the evening.
We plan on doing various activities with the children as well as cooking on the fire.
Could you all please drop your children off at the entrance to the wood and make sure you have seen a leader before leaving them. There is limited parking so we must insist that only leaders vehicles and parent helper for the evening are parked there for the duration of the session.
Pick up is in the same place at 7:30pm.
This is the last session before we break up for the summer holidays and I will be in touch at some point about the date on which we return.
Dont forget Tuesday the 30th July when we are going to Dukeswood in Hexham at 5pm for the climbing wall treat.
See you all on Tuesday and some of you on Saturday night at the Beaver-snore-a-saurus.

On Tuesday we are having an extended session of outdoor scouting in Frolar Woods just outside Allendale (up the Carrshield Road and turn right up a single track (woods on your left up the hill) until you get to a turn on your left and drop off there).
Claire Nevin has kindly let us have the use of these woods for the evening.
We plan on doing various activities with the children as well as cooking on the fire.
Could you all please drop your children off at the entrance to the wood and make sure you have seen a leader before leaving them. There is limited parking so we must insist that only leaders vehicles and parent helper for the evening are parked there for the duration of the session.
Pick up is in the same place at 7:30pm.
This is the last session before we break up for the summer holidays and I will be in touch at some point about the date on which we return.
Dont forget Tuesday the 30th July when we are going to Dukeswood in Hexham at 5pm for the climbing wall treat.
See you all on Tuesday and some of you on Saturday night at the Beaver-snore-a-saurus.

Hi,
Just a quick email to state that the children are going to be in the woods all evening and they must wear sensible clothing and no open toed shoes. Long sleeves and long trousers tucked into Wellington boots are best. Also don't forget the insect repellent.

Hello all,
I hope you've all had a fantastic summer, we've certainly had the weather.
From September cubs and beavers are going to run separately, this is mainly because of the numbers of children we have on the books. This means we have some leeway and more children can join.
The sessions will still run fortnightly at the same times and occasionally we will have joint sessions with the cubs and beavers.
Therefore cubs will start on Tuesday 3rd September at Allendale Village Hall 6-7pm and beavers the week after, Tuesday 10th and so on.
Jona will email beavers parents separately from now on and I will carry on with the cubs. Myself, jona and Pauline will however be at both cubs and beavers sessions with phil and kim still at cubs and Rachel at beavers.
I will attach a copy of the programme in a separate email to everyone so you can put dates in your diary.
Also, we do require more parent helpers. I will make a parent rota and email Monday 2nd (I am away in France from today until then). Unless you have a good enough reason why you couldn't stay and help out for an hour your name will be added to the list. This means that you will only be helping out probably once a term, which we hope you will agree isn't much to ask, and means we can carry on with the success that cubs and beavers has become and that your children seem to enjoy so much.
Look forward to seeing all the children in September.
