WELLSVILLE — The Salvation Army next week will begin taking
applications for Thanksgiving food baskets for needy families.
Salvation Army Capt. Kristen Means said residents may come to the
Army’s Christmas Castle at Riverwalk Plaza between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Mondays through Fridays from Nov. 7 and 18. The castle is in front of
an empty storefront.

Means said the first 100 people whose applications are approved will
receive baskets. The Salvation Army will also be taking signups for
Christmas toys for children. She said there’s no limit to how many
households may sign up for toys.

“They have to come in to fill out the application,” she said. “They
need to bring proof of ID for everyone in the household and birth
certificates for children they’re applying for toys for. They also
need to have a proof of address.”

Means said Thanksgiving baskets will be distributed Nov. 21 from the
Christmas Castle. Residents will receive an approval letter when they
apply.

“They’ll only be able to have a food basket if they’re approved and
have a letter with their name on it and how many are in their family,”
Means said. For more information, call the Salvation Army at 593-2640.
