Worship is our first purpose in God. We were created to worship.
Many of us have found other things besides God to worship. It may be
our career, our family, our money, or even ourselves. Nevertheless,
you are going to worship something or someone.

What's keeping us from truly worshiping God? Are you holding back?

What is your idea of worship? Is it just singing, or praising...or is
it much more?

Let me know your thoughts...

Pastor to be honest with you, the last 3 years of my 32 years here on
earth is the only time I truly understand and know who God is. So up
until that time money, cars, women and clothes is what I worshiped.
With your teaching and NOT HOOPING every Sunday really brings God's
word to Life in my life. Now it is up to me to seek God. So worship to
me is SEEKING God for direction everyday!

As for me, I have been guilty of worshiping all of those things you've
mentioned!! Especially family...and for the past year, I've held
myself back because I was afraid of how people would react to what God
has placed in me. Now I know that when I just focus on Him and block
out all others and things, I've given my all to Him in worship.
Worship to me is devoting and reverencing God through ministry of my
song, my dance, my walk, my talk and all things. The word says in
John 4:23 that the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers
shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father
seeketh such to worship him. Praise God!

Well, if worship is an act of surrendering...I'm having a tough time
already. My Grandma used to always say, "Let go and let God". How??
"If I wait for God then ain't nothing around here gonna get done",
where my thoughts. In my growing process I am learning more and more
how to surrender. But the act is still a difficult one to master.
While it is still not easy because of my upbringing, I am training,
with Gods grace. Signed no longer wanting to hold back...

I think that when it comes to worship in church people are thinking
others are watching them, so they hold back; like I used to do. I no
longer hold back b/c I know that my answers are in my worship. My
idea of worship is surrendering your whole heart to God and not
worrying about who is looking. Seeking the next level in God.

I am so grateful & so thankful to have a relationship with God that is
one of true worship now, but I'm quick to say that I'm still growing
in this area, and I haven't always known what it means to really
worship God. I always thought before that worship time was just
reserved for Sunday, and it was only when you were singing & praising,
and after that time was over, then worship was over also. I didn't
realize that God wants to get the glory out of everything that I do,
and as long as I am giving Him the glory, then I am worshipping Him. I
am learning (again & I need this reminder) that God wants every part
of my life, and in every part of my life, I can give Him praise. He
takes joy in everything that I do because He loves me so much! It's
amazing...He's amazing! Sometimes we get so caught up in life, that we
forget that God is just waiting for us to turn to Him...even with the
little things. God cares about every detail of our lives, so we can
worship Him in everything that we do!

Growing in Christ truthfully has been a roller coaster ride called
memory lane since I have stopped holding back. Plenty of times I
longed for God but kept him in the darkness of my little box, yet I
never understood it was a hidden relationship till now. Since, I
surrendered to God all my old ways and petitioned for the fullness of
him. Suddenly, forgiveness flows more freely and honestly. All past
pains, abuse, neglection, brokeness, and confusion have been "Turned
Around" just as the song says from our Sunday service. WOW! How our
mighty God knows how to approach his every creation and fill us with
our own unique needs.

Letting go and letting God even when it seemed so empty and
shattered...is the only BEST thing I could've ever done. Glory to
God!

These are some powerful comments. Thank you all for your honesty.
Hopefully this helps each of us to see that we are not the only ones
who have struggled with surrendering our all to God.

Remember, this is a daily process. It does not come overnight, and
even once you learn how to surrender, you'll have to do so every day
of your life.

Our enemy loves to tempt us with the things of this world, and worship
is the area where he has the most influence. Let's all keep fighting
the good fight and continuously surrender our will to the will of
God. He will certainly reward us for diligently seeking Him!

B-Blessed!

I would have to agree with one of the earlier comments, all my life I
always thought worship was merely singing songs of praise . Boy, was
I ever wrong, worship I have learned from Pastor A.J. is far more
than that. All this time had I just been taught that just
surrendering your total being to God and just by giving God the glory
in everything that I do and in all areas and decisions that make in my
life were acts of worship I probably would have done this long ago,
but it had to happen in Gods timing.Prais Him, some body Praise Him if
we don't the rocks will.......................

To comment on worship...I never quite understood why it was so easy
for me to give up and backslide from God. While re-reading PDL,
attending weekly group studies, and going to Sunday fellowships God
showed me I was choosing to give him some things unbareable for me to
handle. Then, turning around and taking it back from God's grasp
because I was impatient. How selfish and convicting this made me
feel, however I've learned to stray far from that path. Our Creator
is merciful, graceful, faithfull forgiving and loves
unconditionally.

For the first time worship is everything we say, how we act/react, and
how we trust God in everything.

Many thanksgiving & blessings.
