A new group of celebrities wants to try to win $1 million for their chosen charities on the upcoming season of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? The lineup was announced on July 9, and it includes a Jeopardy! champion and Jeopardy! host.
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? celebrity edition has a pair of stars team up to answer questions that get more difficult as the money rises. If they get the $25,000 question correct, they are guaranteed to take at least that amount home, even if they get one wrong later in the game. The top prize is, obviously, $1 million.
31-game Jeopardy! champion Jamie Ding will compete on this season, alongside Ben Affleck. Last year, Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings competed with Affleck’s best friend, Matt Damon. They won $1 million for their charities. Can this pair of new BFFs win the same amount?
Ding won a total of $885,605 on Jeopardy! and quickly became a fan-favorite. He will return for the Tournament of Champions, but fans don’t have to wait to see him on another game show for that long.
Here is everything we know about Season 5 of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (or simply Millionaire).
As previously announced in May, Millionaire will premiere on Wednesday, July 22 at 8/7c on ABC. It will then air weekly until the end of the season.
Jimmy Kimmel is back as host of the game show. He has hosted every season of the celebrity version since its inception in 2020.
People exclusively revealed the cast on July 9. Aside from Ding and Affleck, the other 14 contestants include:
