Warner Bros. Discovery is planning to premiere nearly 98 new shows across its cable networks this year with stars including Terry Crews, Ken Jeong, Leslie Jones and Shaquille O’Neal.
The U.S. Networks arm includes including Discovery Channel, Food Network, HGTV, Investigation Discovery, TBS, TNT, TLC, Magnolia Network, Adult Swim and OWN. The news comes as WBD is in the process of being bought by David Ellison’s Paramount.
Terry Crews is hosting 100 Cooks, Food Network’s biggest home cook competition of all time, Leslie Jones is hosting HGTV’s short-term rental rescue series Roast My Rental, Investigation Discovery has a new true-crime docuseries, Game Day Murders (w/t), hosted by NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal and veteran sports broadcaster Lindsay Czarniak and Discovery Channel has a new Shark Week special, KPop Shark Heroes, featuring Ken Jeong and Rei Ami.
100 Cooks, which sees 100 of America’s elite home cooks compete in a series of challenges, comes from Lando Entertainment will premiere on June; KPop Shark Heroes comes from Will Packer Media and Anomaly Entertainment; Roast My Rental, which launches on July 24, is produced by TeamSheed and Wheelhouse; and Game Day Murders, which examines murder mysteries that sent shockwaves through America’s sports world, is produced by O’Neal’s production company, Jersey Legends in partnership with All3 Media’s Lion Television U.S.
Finally, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s Artists Equity is moving into the food space with Dan the Donut Man for Food Network. The series, which premieres at the start of next year, follows Dan Cole – self-proclaimed “Donut Daddy” and Chief Donut Development Engineer at Dunkin’ – as he travels across America in search of culinary inspiration.
The company is also taking a leaf of out Bravocon’s book with the launch of 90 Day Con, a live event based around TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé franchise
