DIY Magnetic Music Laser Show
DIY & Examples Video : http://youtu.be/q8O7w57gncg

This is a simple way to dump an audio signal into an electro-magnet and make a music laser show. But this is much better than just spinning or moving the laser. It creates a "laser microscope" and dumps the magnetic fields into a small region which is magnified.

Prep Ingredient needed : DIY Magnetic Powder, how to make and store: http://youtu.be/wlcP1GhVvjM , http://youtu.be/aKgGEaSve8Y

There is no real "construction" required, per se, asides from pehaps the electro-magnet if you choose to hand wind it like me. You will require some items, namely: A laser pointer, A small glass container made of clear thin glass, a permanent magnet, an electro-magnet, an audio amplifier, some magnetic power (DIY instructions in link above this paragraph), and a screen or white wall (you can make an easy screen with tape and white printer paper)

Setting it up and aligning it can be troublesome. I use a little hot-glue to stick everything in place nice and tight.

Various things affect the laser show (asides from color and intensity, which primaily determined by the power and color of the laser)
Placement of the permanent magnet(s) determines the "base"
Placement of the electromagnet determines the "reaction"
Quantity of powder affects "density"
Theoreticals(untested):
Quality of powder should affect reaction
Quality of water/solution should affect reaction, and affect color/intensity
Quality (shape/size/multiple) of electro-magnet affect reaction
