Heya!

The primary purpose of a DG is not only to study God's Word. We can do that perfectly by listening to sermons, doing devotionals, and reading commentaries from Piper and his ilk.

It is to live as God's people amongst God's people. Jesus' commandment to love one another (John 13:34) can only be realized if we are committed to and regularly meet one another. The latter being a function of the former.

To build this little community, we hope to use the virtual spaces to complement (and not substitute) our physical meetings. To that end, you may have noticed that we are trying to tidy up the Allthings Facebook page.

I have, for the time being, taken down any overt references to ARPC. Just to be prudent, cos this social medium thing is still pretty new and we may not be aware of any pitfalls.

We hope to use it
  1. To organize and publicize our social events. It will be so much easier for us to invite our non-DG friends along. The information is all there and finally, we won't have to keep answering the perennial question: "So who else is going ar?" or the dreaded follow up to the first question "So who is so-and-so?"
  2. To share experiences and memories with those of us who were and were not there. ie Upload videos and photos to a shared archive.
  3. To allow everyone an easy way of building up the community by giving a 'shout-out' or linking to some helpful resource on the web. ie Gospel Coalition articles, Mark Driscoll sermons, etc
At the present moment, we need contributions to the archives, properly sorted where possible - I am creating albums of some of our events.

Please tag any friends/guests who are not in the DG, with their permission of course.

And also feel free to share any good ideas on how we can use the virtual/social space for God's glory.

Errol

Hi Everyone,

Good to see the DG connecting on FB! We also want to keep our email group open as a channel so those who prefer corresponding via email can continue to do so.

To this end, were not able to add new members to the old mailing list due to technical problems  with google, and have therefore created a new group a few months back to include our new members.

Now that we have 2 google group mailing lists, there is a tendency to accidentally miss out one or the other in our communications. So we intend to close the old mailing list and start using the new one which unlike the old list, has the capacity to include everyone.

If you are receiving this mail, you are part of the old list. And if you have not signed up for the new google groups mailing list yet, please do so. If you have already, many thanks for your time in doing so.

Please feel free to contact me if you have further queries on this.
I'll send out invites again over the week for those who have not signed up.
I hope to include everyone in the new list before closing the old one by the end of this month.

Cheers!
Daniel
