Hi everyone,
I'm not someone who needs "black & white" documentation of what has already been said. However, I recognize that not everyone may be around during the weeks when certain announcements are made. Hence this email. Apologies in advance to those who have already heard these announcement (some even twice!). :)
1) Bags Deposit Shelf
There are wooden shelves provided next to the main entrance for everyone to place their bags on during DG. This will reduce the need for everyone having to find a place to leave their bags, that may inconvenience others or pose a safety hazard! :)
2) DG Fund
Our DG has established a fund to facilitate DG activities. The use of the fund is at the discretion of the DG leader under the guiding principles of facilitating DG fellowship and outreach to God's people but most commonly, the money is used for supper / birthday cakes / DG socials / bible study materials.
Contribution to this fund is voluntary (no obligations) in line with what was happening in the early Church in Acts. Contributions are kept anonymous, and can be made by placing cash in the small tin box located on the wooden shelves (bags deposit shelf) next to the main entrance. At the end of the night, the amount is tallied and kept by Kristy, our treasurer.
If you would like to seek reimbursement, please let Kristy know in advance so that she can prepare the money. It would also be nice if you could pass her receipts for records.
Please note that all DG fund related transactions can only be performed on Thursdays when DG meets. This is to facilitate record keeping and to be loving to Kristy.
Yes, of late, I have been making quite a few announcements about the DG fund, but this is NOT a pitch for more contributions. We've recently had a few new people join the DG, who may not be aware of what the fund is about. In any case, we are also making a few changes with regards to the logistics of how the fund is managed. The fund is currently very healthy and will easily take us through the next social so if you are thinking of contributing, you can probably hold off until after the next major expenditure. :)
3) JFN aka "Just for newcomers"
I'll leave Dave & Karl to inform the necessary people about logistics. However, do keep the entire group in prayer. There are 70 - 80 people in the current JFN cohort.
4) Supper
Juliana (Julz) is helping to coordinate supper every week to ensure that we don't waste food should too many people happen to bring goodies that particular night. So please do check with Julz before bringing something on any particular night.
5) Dinner / fellowship
I'll also take this opportunity to remind everyone that dinner is provided not just to appease hunger pangs but also to facilitate fellowship. Please do make the effort to come earlier. Hearing / learning from the Word of God is an important component of meeting with God's people. But getting to know one another allows us to pray specifically and to love practically thereby putting the Word of God in action.
Having said that do let me know if you want dinner, even if you can't eat it until after the bible study. Otherwise catering can be quite stressful. :)
This takes us to the end of the announcements and proves Errol is not the only one in the Moo household who is long-winded! :)
