Heya!

Just a couple of things we may want to take note of regarding last nights bible study.

God has ever been speaking. He spoke creation into being, and his words shall be the final judgement on the Last Day. In between, He speaks and speaks to the world and to His people.

Our problem has always ever been a heart that fails to listen.

God's solution is to give us a new heart (Jer 31:31-34) The Holy Spirit dwells in this new heart so that we may listen to God.

Odds and Ends

The account of Abraham bargaining with God to spare the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah are found in Genesis 18:16 - 29. And the city that was spared because Lot was too tired to run very far was Zoar.

The account of Moses pleading on behalf of the Israelites for God to forgive their idolatry is found in Exodus 32:7-35. It is interesting to note that God specifically told Moses to 'let me alone' to deal with the Israelites. But Moses persisted in intercession.

The account when Jesus quoted Jeremiah 7:11's "den of robbers" is found in
Matthew 21: 12-16
Mark 11:15-19
Luke 19:45-48

Jesus is the Prophet, Priest and King that we need
We will receive God's revelation, God's pardon and God's victory over sin and injustice through Jesus Christ!

The role of the prophet is to reveal God to man. John 1:1-4 talks about how the Word of the Lord became flesh and dwelt amongst men and in John 14:9 Jesus declares that those who have seen him, would also have seen the father. There has never been a greater revelation of God the Father, then through Jesus the Son (who alone, has seen the Father)

Hebrews 4:14 describes Jesus in his effective role as our great high priest - to sympathize with us and to make intercession on our behalf.

And in Matthew 25:31-46, Revelations 22:6-15
Jesus describes what he will be doing as King - to judge and to deal with the wickedness of the whole world. There will be JUSTICE for all!

Contrast this against Israel who
  1. failed to reveal God to the nations (they forgot Him),
  2. who failed to lead the nations to God (they followed after the nations)
  3.  and who failed to execute the Justice that God required (they committed great injustice)
