May love for God and obedience to his commands undergird all that we say and do in this DG.
We continue with our experiment to use
Face Book to keep the DG abreast of updates and developments for the following reasons
- It is much easier to add new people to the FB group than it is to googlegroups. Since there has not been a stampede of volunteers to help the DG maintain our mailing list on googlegroups, I hope that we can all make the switch without further complains. The alternative is to insist that I continue to work with a system where new-comers will not be kept in the loop. That is simply not the loving thing.
- It is totally uncool to reply to an email thread with 'like'. But somehow, this practice is acceptable in FB. And it is a big deal, because often times, that is all we want to express (a grunt of affirmation).
- Related to the above point. It is not always easy to write something that will illicit said affirming grunt, but post a cute photo of our DG mates trying to act like frat boys and you hear lots of grunts. The point is that it is a lot easier for everyone to share our experiences and thoughts. That's gotta be good for the community ya?
- And, you can more easily delete a comment or post than you can trying to explain why you didn't mean to send out that silly email.
So what if it makes Mark the Berg even more of a threat to internet titans like Google? I can live with it.
There will be DG this Thursday. Please use the
Facebook event app to indicate if you will be joining us. And determine early that you will want to come and love God's people and to love God's Word.
