Hi Guys!

Its the time of the year when we can demonstrate faith expressed in love towards the larger body of ARPC by helping to direct traffic, usher duties in the sanctuary and cleaning up after fellowship (something for which the Moo's are GREATLY thankful for)

Please respond to the Facebook event invite to let us know your availability.

As per the last 3 times we have done this, Parents with children attending the morning service can certainly help out after service by preparing the handouts and to attend to the traffic duties.

This does not, however meant that those who are coming for the 11:30 service should take advantage of the fact to saunter in at 11:30. Please come early as our loving response to God's grace in our lives. Do it for Jesus! Not ARPC.

Errol

Dear
Derren Tan/Tiong Cheng + Tan Kok Yam
Jimmy Cheang + Peter Loh/Stanley Sy

Errol Moo + Vitali Zagorodnov,

Greetings in the name of the Lord!
Thanks for your love and ministry as you shepherd God's flock.

This email is to inform you that your DG has been scheduled for Servants Of the Month (SOM) ministry in the month of May 2012 (see DG Handbook p.10). Please see below for which service you will be serving in.

Sat 5pm Service for May 5, 12, 19, and 26 - Derren Tan/Neo Tiong Cheng + Tan Kok Yam DGs

Sun 9am Service for May 6, 13, 20, and 27 - Jimmy Cheang + Peter Loh/Stanley Sy DGs

Sun 11:30am Service for May 6, 13, 20, and 27
- Errol Moo + Vitali Zagorodnov DGs

For each round of SOM, we need at least 14-16 people.
That means each DG has to provide at least 6-7 people.
If you find that you are unable to get at least 6 people to help in SOM, please let me know early so that I can try to see what can be done. Thank you.

We thank God for your generous sacrifice and love in serving us in SOM ministry. We pray that both you and your DG members will see SOM not as a duty, or worse still as a chore (!), but that you will see it as a loving way of serving the wider body of Christ here in ARPC. Your service goes a long way especially in the area of hospitality in welcoming newcomers and encouraging fellowship with the drinks you help provide (Romans 12:12-13). You also enable the leaders (pastors, elders and deacons) to be ‘freed up’ to focus on other teaching ministries, while being assured that these vital areas for church to run smoothly are well looked after (Acts 6:1-7). Some DGs also find SOM a good bonding time.

The instructions for SOM duty can be found in the current DG Handbook p.84. Please also see the 4 extra instructions on extreme wet weather contingencies, attire etc. in the email below and the instructions on using the tap spray in the pantry. We have also purchased raincoats and boots in case of extreme heavy rain. Please look through them and assign your DG members accordingly for the different duties needed. Please also do arrive 45 min before the start of the service.

Lastly, please also note that it has recently been stated and requested by the Church leadership that the SOMers DO NOT bring down the offering bags from the Mezzanine 4th floor down to the 3rd floor. Instead, please pass the offering bags to the Deacon who will be on duty on the 4th floor, who will proceed to bring it all down to the 3rd floor. This is for better accountability and transparency reasons.

Thanks for your partnership and service and love to us!

In Christ
Pastor Edmund Fong

“Ephesians 4:15-16  15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.  16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”

=======================================================================================

Dear DGs and SOMers,

Thank you so much for faithfully and very often joyfully, responding to SOM ministry.
This is part of living out Acts 6 - where your service in SOM ministry helps us the leaders of the church to concentrate on Word and Prayer ministries while knowing the equally important task of welcoming people and hospitality is well-taken care of!

In this regard, please note the following new instructions and reminders:

1. Extreme Wet weather plan.
In cases of extreme wet weather plan (thunder and lightning, huge pouring rain), please set up the traffic cones as shown in the photo attachments. The car park slots are to be left empty. This arrangement allows one car at a time to come into the car park and swing into the sheltered pouch to alight passengers, before reversing into one of the car park slots and making a U-turn to head out of the car park to park elsewhere. Traffic controllers are still needed to ensure there is a smooth flow of traffic in one direction and it is one car in the car park at a time. We tried this for last Saturday service when it was pouring and discovered it works quite well.

On other days of normal weather or light rain, we will still cordone off the car park as per normal, and provide assistance to alighting passengers at the gate.

2. Handing out of Church Handbooks
This is a reminder for SOMers to be up at the sanctuary with handbooks ready in hand to give out to Newcomers. We have found that the response time is sometimes too long between a newcomer putting up his hand and him receiving the handbook. As such, please be up in the sanctuary with handbooks ready in hand to give out 15min into the service i.e. 5:15pm, 9:15am, and 11:45am.

3. Attire in SOM ministry
Please be reminder of our attire. No shorts or slippers, please. Long pants or jeans would be much appreciated. This is so that we may not stumble others or newcomers who might have come from other church backgrounds where attire is viewed more seriously and 'strictly'.

4. Do not switch off the water Heater
Please do not switch off the water heater switch in the pantry. The heater is to be kept on all the time for quick and instand access to hot water for the services.

Thank you so much for listening and keeping to these instructions.

With that in mind, We would like to thank you for your fellowship and service again.

In Christ,
Pastor Edmund Fong
