Abstrak

Special lecture titled “Services Science and Smart Planet”, by Professor Kyoichi Kijima, Tokyo Institute Technology, consists of three parts.

It first overviews service science from research and educational points of view, referring to the current status of the world. Then the speaker talks about necessity of service science perspective to develop and implement ideas of smart city, smart society, smart community, and even smart planet.
Secondly, he explains about nature of service and service system in terms of service dominant logic, a basis of service science. Value co-creation by providers and customers is pointed out as the key concept when analyzing and observing service.
Finally, after he claims service science needs to cover three kinds of research levels with the same weights, namely, episteme (logic and concept; know what), techne (technology; know how) and phronesis (implementation; know when, know whom and know where), he introduces one of his original service systems models. It is called Four-phase Value Co-creation Process Model, which tries to open up value co-creation process in to four phases; co-experience, co-definition, co-elevation and co-development.
In conclusion, he looks back at all the material so far and illustrates relevance of service scientific approach or value co-creation approach to smart city project.
