At the last book club meeting, we discussed moving our meetings to Sunday after church. Typically worship at Mission Road is over by 11:30 AM and we discussed several options:
  1. Leave for lunch and return by 1 PM for the book club meeting, or
  2. Everyone orders their lunch (Uber Eats, DoorDash or bring lunch) and spend time eating and socializing but start the discussion by 1 PM, or
  3. Other suggestions?
This would avoid folks needing to drive after dark and may attract more members to join the discussions after church.

We'd aim for the third Sunday of the month (in April meet the 4th Sunday because the 3rd is Easter) and also plan to avoid Sundays when the Chiefs have a noon or early afternoon game.

PLEASE respond by letting me know if this change creates a barrier for your attendance. Any feedback is welcome, especially if you have preferences regarding the lunch options or have additional suggestions.

If we proceed with this plan, our schedule for the next few months would look like the following. Note the title we agreed on for March (listed below) and each meeting would begin after lunch or about 1 PM.
  • Sunday, March 16, 2025, I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman (175 pages).
  • Sunday, April 27, 2025 to avoid Easter), The Briar Club by Kate Quinn (Caryn Brown-Millard will moderate), 412 pages.
  • Sunday, May 18, 2025, Looking for Alaska by John Green (April Ballantyne will moderate), 221 pages.
  • Sunday, June 22, 2025 (to avoid Fathers day), The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See (Jane Stock will moderate), 384 pages.
  • Sunday, July 20, 2025, Beloved by Toni Morrison (Jane Landrum will moderate), 288 pages.
  • Sunday, August 17, 2025, Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune (moderator needed), 416 pages.
Let us hear from you!
