SARs outbreak of 2003, there was a clear link to wildlife trade - many of the index cases were workers in the wildlife trade - wild meat market stall owners who slaughtered wildlife on site AND wildlife restaurant workers slaughtering wildlife in their restaurants. Some amazing work quickly sampled from a wide range of species in the market showing that the same virus (not a similar one) was isolated from raccoon dogs and civets. As you know, SARs had massive, global economic impacts including an estimated 70% drop in tourism to Asia.

Now Coronavirus out break 2020

  1.  Viral metagenomic analysis of 1,000 samples showed that wildlife is a potential intermediate host.

  2.  70% wildlife samples are positive for beta-CoV.

  3.  The virus was isolated from sample(s) and observed under EM

  4.  The viral genome analysis showed 99% identity to human 2019-nCoV

They didn't reveal the source of samples or what species, and it's a "potential" intermediate host. Pangolins have little interactions with bats in the wild, and the virus can be transmitted from other animals (including humans) to pangolins during the transportation and trade (during SARS, some other small mammals on the market were also found positive for SARS-CoV). Also, the initial cases were linked to a local market, I suspect if they collected these samples from the market where was cleaned up immediately after the outbreak. There are snake, mink, fish that has been announced as the intermediate hosts, we need to see detailed data.

But overall, this outbreak has triggered a strong public opinion against the wildlife trade.

Pakistan is last country still struggling against Polio, we have history of worst epidemic management at least 3% of Pakistan’s total population could be wiped if this virus entered in this country, our economy industry everything will be affected.

Authorities should hold a massive operation against every kind of poaching hunting and trade of wildlife to block possibility of susceptibility toward this infection in Pakistan.
