Amid falling European sales of Opel and Vauxhall cars from a German company, a message came about a decrease in production volumes of two city cars at once.
In October, Opel will reduce its new Adam three-door hatchback and somewhat outdated Corsa siticar, the current generation of which has been on the market since 2006, at its Eisenach plant. The company has called the decline in production of the two models "seasonal", since in Europe during the winter months there has traditionally been a drop in sales of new cars. In addition, representatives of Opel recalled that in the Old World the economic crisis continues, affecting all automobile companies without exception Spanish cars.
“In October, the company's total production will decrease mainly due to the Corsa model, which is at the end of its generation life cycle. As for Adam, sales of this machine are very successful,” Opel told Automotive News Europe.
Despite the statements of Opel representatives that Adam is in high demand among European consumers, in reality things are somewhat different. According to JATO Dynamics, from January to June, the brand from Germany produced 41 thousand Adam cars, however, Opel managed to sell 27,214 copies of the city car over the same period. According to ACEA, at the end of August, sales of the Opel brand and the British company Vauxhall fell in the old-world market by 5% compared to the same period last year. Since 1999, Opel and Vauxhall have incurred $ 18 billion in losses from General Motors.
