"Sensation hunters" pleased the public by posting fresh "spy" images of the new generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class prototype, as well as information about the technical equipment of the car, into the global network.
According to insider information, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, designed on a modular rear-wheel drive platform, will be slightly larger and more spacious than the current version of the car. Engineers managed to carve out additional space for the knees of the rear passengers and increase the amount of luggage up to 500 liters. Despite the fact that the car will add in size, the weight of the best-selling Mercedes-Benz will decrease by about 70 kg.
Serious changes will occur in the range of engines, where new power plants will appear. According to the publication Car and Driver, the model will be equipped with a 195-liter turbocharged 2.1-liter diesel engine, familiar from the restyled version of the E-class sedan. In the engine line, media representatives expect to find, in particular, a 4-cylinder 210-hp gas turbine unit and a peak torque of 351 Nm and a V-shaped “six” with a volume of 3.0 or 3.5 liters. The top-end version of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class with the AMG nameplate will receive a 4.0-liter "eight" with a capacity of over 460 hp. Along with a manual gearbox, the cheapest cars with the seven-speed automatic transmission will also be included in the Mercedes-Benz C-Class equipment list, which over time the company will replace with a nine-speed gearbox.
The car is planned to be manufactured both in a single-drive modification and with an all-wheel drive system. The introduction of the new generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan will take place in January as part of the international motor show in Detroit. Model assembly is organized at company enterprises operating in Germany, South Africa, China and the USA.
