The city authorities are planning to make cars parking spaces shorter by 1 meter by the end of the year. The purpose of this "operation" is to free up space in the city for additional parking.
This was announced by the general director of GKU "Administrator of the Moscow parking space" Igor Kuznetsov. According to him, now GOST is being agreed in Rosstandart, by the end of this year, the authorities will change the standard and reduce the length of the parking space. Now it is 7.5 meters, and will be 6.5 meters.
Reducing the length of parking will make it possible to equip about 20% of additional places in the capital, but at the same time, some drivers will have to occupy two parking spaces at once, according to the M24 portal about Spanish cars.
In addition to changes to GOST, the authorities also intend to revise sanitary standards regarding the placement of parking lots in the city. In particular, the remoteness of parking lots from residential buildings at a distance of not less than 10 meters from the facade will be recorded.
