French pilot Sebastian Ogier, representing the Volksawagen factory team, won the classic rally world championship ahead of schedule.
Before the start of the French Rally, the only pilot who could prevent Sebastian Ogier from taking the championship title was Thierry Neville, however, in order to beat the Frenchman in the individual standings, the Belgian had to win in the last three stages of the season and show the best time in three Power Stage. At the same time, Sebastian himself was not supposed to score a single point. However, a miracle did not happen, and already following the results of Power Stage races on the French Rally, Ogier ahead of schedule won his first championship title in his career. At the Power Stage special stage, the Volkswagen pilot showed the third time, Neville, who stands for the M-Sport Ford “stable”, turned out to be the second, and Dani Sordo from Citroen celebrated the victory.
Recall that over the past nine seasons, the winner of the World Cup was Sebastian Loeb. Last year, the French pilot announced that he would no longer fight for the title in the WRC cheapest cars , as he decided to try his own strength in new competitions. Last summer, Sebastian Loeb, driving a Peugeot 208T16, won the Pikes Peak Hill Climb climbing competition, breaking the previous record of passing the track for one and a half minutes. The following year, Sebastian Loeb will make his debut in the WTCC World Car Racing Championship behind the wheel of the C-Elysee WTCC.
