to All About That Bayes
Dear all,

October 25-29, 2021, the CIRM will host a winter school on Bayesian methods. The scientific core of this week is to provide a rich overview of end-to-end Bayesian solutions to real world learning problems in complex settings. The week will highlight all aspects of such approaches from data processing and feature engineering to Monte Carlo estimation procedures as well as the most recent theoretical guarantees obtained in high dimensional settings or frameworks with dependent and/or missing data. This school is particularly suited Ph.D. students and early stage researchers from academia or industry. It is an opportunity to reinforce their knowledge about Bayesian learning and computational methods, to get in touch with distinguished international experts, and to discuss concrete problems and state-of-the-art solutions.

The scientific program of this week includes 2 mini courses (3h), 6 plenary talks (1h30), 15 contributed talks (30min) and a poster session.

Confirmed spearkers
  • Elisabeth Gassiat, Université Paris-Saclay.
  • Rémi Bardenet, Université de Lille, CNRS.
  • Anthony Lee, University of Bristol.
  • Eric Moulines, Ecole Polytechnique.
  • Florence Forbes, INRIA Grenoble Rhone-Alpes.
  • Gareth Roberts, University of Warwick.
  • Judith Rousseau, University of Oxford.
Topics : the winter school will address various aspects of Bayesian learning methods.
  • Convergence of Monte Carlo methods (Markov Chain Monte Carlo and Sequential Monte Carlo).
  • Computational Statistics and Bayesian learning in deep learning.
  • Nonparametric Bayesian statistics.
  • Posterior concentration rates.
  • Statistical methodology for missing data.
  • Stochastic algorithms for approximating intractable likelihoods.
Information about CIRM
  • The CIRM welcomes participants from Sunday afternoon to Friday afternoon.
  • Prices include full-board accommodation for residents (all meals and logding onsite from Sunday evening to Friday 6pm)
    • Single room (105€ per night - limited availability).
    • Double room (95€ per night).
If you or one your Ph.D. student want to apply and eventually submit an abstract or a poster, it is possible till April, 9 2021. The application form is available at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdjyWHgpEOKoqFSnjvNrx3c9cZ6Aqc49PB4z6ekHvLpm3oVWw/viewform?usp=pp_url

There is a limited number of participants, the more complete your answer and abstract will be, the more likely you will be selected. We will do our best to offer you a dynamic and interactive program, we expect students to show a strong interest in the main topics of this winter school.

Important dates
  • Acceptance notification: April 30, 2021.
  • Deadline for the inscription: June 15, 2021.

Kind regards,
Pierre Gloaguen, Sylvain Le Corff, Julien Stoehr
