The internet, a wonderful medium to make my paintings accessible to a wide public. There are no prizes to be won, but also there is no jury to make a judgement on you, the visitor. It is up to each person to enter into my virtual exhibition. To reject it - it all vanishes with a click.
“This painting is just like a photograph!” This statement I hear again and again. But here thoughts are different. What is spoken as a compliment by one, can be seen as a destructive judgement by critics. Therefore I do not like to hear from either side. The painting technique of the picture can be considered only superficially. My concern with my pictures of the human form is to penetrate the very depths of the person portrayed.
I develop in my critical paintings the facial expression of human beings with all their weaknesses, whether grotesque, apathetic, dull, ugly; and I see my highest artistic aim in portraying the human form in its purity and beauty.
There are first the old people who have drawn upon their faces the lines from the experience of life. On the other hand there are the children who are not conscious of their natural beauty. This phase seems to me, shortly before the child enters the adult world, to be the most sacred. Here all is in balance, the child in perfection.
Also the mind is still open and fresh. Mind and body form a harmony similar to a wonderful musical chord. This harmony I seek to catch with my boy nudes. In my paintings “Dominik kalos” (Wkvz 239), “Dominik im Ziegelwald” (Wkvz 265) and “Patrick” (Wkvz 344) I have com nearest - I think – to the goal of my conception.
No clothing or any other kind of fashionable frills can distract from this timeless beauty.
