Dear all,

The new data set comprised of 20 flies has been posted (http://
compbio.soe.ucsc.edu/alignathon/flies.html). The phylogeny for the
twenty is posted on that webpage. The eight new flies are soft-masked
for both simple repeats (via TRF) and the D. melanogaster repeat
library (via RepeatMasker) by the standard UCSC pipeline for flies
(thanks to Brian Raney). The project deadline has been shifted and is
now 9 March. Happy aligning!

Dear Dent,

I used the new downloadFlies.sh to get the sequences but got a problem
with the md5sum. It seems to be a problem of the downloadFlies.sh file.
The md5sum differs from the one given on the webpage. When I check
manually the downloaded file has the same value as the md5sum from the
webpage. Can I assume that my sequences are correct?

Cheers,
Carsten

Hey Carsten,

Yes, the value on the website (ffbd16a...3315) is correct, the script had an old value. I've corrected this in the script, thanks for letting me know!
