I received very sad news from NECSI. The previous organizer of the
MIT ALife group has died. More details below:

I'd like to point out that the funeral home link includes an address for sending condolences.  Although it may seem a trivial act with a loss like this, it really might mean a great deal to Eric's loved ones if he has condolence messages from the scientists and community members affected by his life and work.
