Changing these signs was a campaign promise made and fulfilled by our District F Council member Tiffany Thomas, and she deserves thanks, as do many members of Alief Super Neighborhood Council who have worked on this for years.
Now that this issue is close to being resolved, I hope the International
Management District and the Alief Super Neighborhood Council can work more
closely together in the future. Ideally a member of the District board should
also be active in the Super Neighborhood so that information can be shared
between the two organizations. There’s so much that can be done to improve life
in Alief and working together will make that process much more effective.

As an aside, the City scheme for numbering streets confuses me. Cook Road North of Bellaire is the 4600 block and South is the 6800 block. Even more confusing is West Houston Center at West Park which is the 12800 block and if you go one block east to Kirkwood which parallels West Houston Center it is the 4600 block. Does anyone know how the city makes decisions regarding street numbers? More consistency would make it easier for people to find what they are looking for.
