Issues with depthMapEstimation from the command line.

Hello,

  I'm trying to set up a batch file to run the individual processes sequentially (for batch processing), but I'm hitting a wall at depthMapEstimation.

  It seems able to read all the EXR and ini files produced in previous steps, but only computes a single depth map then quits without error:

Unfortunately it's working fine via the GUI, but when run from the command line it only seems to attempt to write a single depth map (and fails).  It could be the forward/backward slashes that it's trying to use from the commandline, but I'm not sure.

Hi Peter,

Have you tried the meshroom_photogrammetry.exe software that comes with the release ?
It runs the whole default pipeline in command line and takes a folder with images (or a list of images) as input.
When done, the resulting textured mesh gets copied into the specified output folder.
meshroom_photogrammetry.exe --input /path/to/footage --output /output/path

You can also specify the cache folder with the --cache argument.

Usage: meshroom_photogrammetry.exe [-h] [--input FOLDER]
                                   [--inputImages [IMAGES [IMAGES ...]]]
                                   --output FOLDER [--save FOLDER]
                                   [--scale SCALE]                                  // depthmap scale
                                   [--toNode [NODE [NODE ...]]]              // node to compute (will take leaves - so everything) if not specified
                                   [--cache FOLDER] [--forceStatus]
                                   [--forceCompute]                                

Is it lacking some options/flexibility for what you are willing to do ?

Yeah, that works great, but I'd like to implement guided matching during feature matching, and LSCM for texture reconstruction, and it doesn't look like I can specify that for meshroom_photogrammetry.exe (unless I'm mistaken)

You are right, meshroom_photogrammetry is not really flexible ATM.
We're willing to provide an easy way to override default values at the end-user level, to be able to achieve what you are trying to do.
This would be ideal compared to custom scripts that might be invalidated by newer versions of Meshroom that changes the default pipeline.
And this also allows to benefit from the nodal system with graph invalidation, different output folders for different set of parameters and so on.
We will keep this thread updated when this becomes available.

In the meantime, you can:
- get meshroom source code corresponding to the release (2018.1.0): https://github.com/alicevision/meshroom/archive/v2018.1.0.zip
- replace the 'Meshroom-2018.1.0\lib\meshroom' by the 'meshroom' python package from the source.
- modify any default value you want in nodes description; they are all available in the 'meshroom/nodes/aliceVision' folder.
- (you can even modify the 'meshroom/multiview.py' script to add additional step, like MeshDecimate...)
- run meshroom_photogrammetry.exe

Let me know if any of this does not work on your side.
