[MeshRoom] Capture quality improvement

I everyone,

I try MeshRoom software and I'm not sure to use it with the best settings. I compare it with RealityCapture Demo.

I have a set of 78 pictures 23Mpx taken with my Sony Xperia XA2.

I add this line to the sensor file cameraSensor.db

Sony;H3113;11.04

I try some settings but the result not really good. RealityCapture has an incomparable result.

I attach two videos (codec H265) to this post to show you the difference between the two software.

Anyone know how I improve output quality with AliceVision ?

It's possible to give you MeshRoom project or pictures if is helpfull.

Hi,

Can you send us the input images?

You can use https://fromsmash.com for instance.

The meshroom result looks surprisingly bad, so I would be interested to experiment with it.

Have you managed to reproduce a more faithful model in AliceVision than with my settings ?

I try with another modèle found in my home. The point Cloud is pretty cool but meshing not really...

I tried many settings for DepthMap and Meshing, The result is better or not but unfortunately not really impressive.

Hi!

We just ran some tests on your images. It turns out that the problem was related the sensor width value.

Based on this article, 1.2/3" sensors dimensions are actually 6.17 x 4.55 mm. So the correct entry for the database is 6.17 and not 11.04.

With that fixed, you will get much better results:

Could you try to change that value and restart a new project from scratch? Would be nice to confirm this fixes things for you!

Hi all,

I'm trying to scan a colleague for fun. I always do a comparison between RealityCapture and AliceVision.

RealityCapture have much better result. I think AliceVision can do the same thing but I don't know what to change to get there ...

Do you have an idea?

I have 27 photos and 26 of which he found matches.

For the exctraction feature I use sift in ultra.

For the depthmap I've a downscale at 1, SGM at 10 and Refine at 6
