All that is needed, is to engage, educate and enable EVERY CHILD to become financially literate and independant and prepare them to be responsible citizens of tomorrow.

This, being a CSR INITIATIVE of INVESTOR SHOPPE in association with the ROTARY CLUB OF LOKHANDWALA KANDIVALI. We invite every child to participate in the event "KANDY VALLEY FESTIVAL 2013" (Kandivali) to be held on Feb 9th 2013 at the BMC ground, behind Lokhandwala school from 4 pm onwards. Participation is absolutely free (Registrations open on the 21st of Jan 2013. Call/ mail / visit us at www.kandyvalley.info  ).This is a complete fun way of learning about Money.

The event itinerary:

We start the show with a Financial Quiz called "MONEY WIZ" between the participants (Elimination rounds begins on 21st January 2013)

This will be followed by a "SPEAK OUT" session - an interesting debate between parents & children : How much pocket money is enough money ?

We will be screening a movie which deals in FINANCIAL LITERACY for KIDS/YOUNG ADULTS, directed by award-winning writer-director Amol Gupte (from the "Taare Zameen Par" fame) - a 30 min movie followed by a Question & Answer session on what you (as audience/viewers) have understood from the movie.

Coming to one of the most exciting part of the event will be a short film contest called "AISA HAI PAISA" where kids/young adults can make great use of their talents and create a 4-5 minute movie on
o Why Money Matters
o The value of pocket money
o Why should I invest my money?
o Our generation – What we understand about money
o Budgeting – Isn’t it something the government does?
o Savings
The 5 best movies will be screened at the event and awards will be given under various categories!

Parallel to this whole exercise a very interesting concept of "Creating Young Entrepreneurs" through a contest in which children from local schools/society will team up with the local restaurants that will help children/young adults in learning to budget, source and market the food. This one is called "CHAI SAMOSA AUR BHAROSA" there will be "TOPLINE AWARD" for HIGHEST SALES, "BOTTOM LINE AWARD" for the MAXIMUM PROFIT, and other awards.

For all of the above contests/competitions, we also have a "HOST WITH THE MOST" contest where the YOUNGSTERS (young at heart – not in age) who have a flair for PUBLIC SPEAKING can actually Co-host the show different parts of the show. AUDITIONS BEGIN ON 23RD JANUARY 2013.

More details will follow. Please do ENCOURAGE YOUR KIDS TO PARTICIPATE in large numbers cause we intend to make a difference in the life of every child not just during the event but perennially through AN EXCLUSIVE SECURED COMMUNITY PORTAL.

Anyone who would be interested in contributing to this social initiative of our very own local community in any way: Volunteering, Sponsoring, Participating, Judging Entries, or tying up with local restaurants & the rest of the Kandivli Community, Sponsoring prizes, getting as many children to participate etc will go a very long way in spreading the much needed financial literacy to the 'generationNext'. As it is said and rightly so, 'IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO RAISE A CHILD' and we would sincerely appreciate your active involvement in this community movement for change.

Yours truly,

Jaya K Nagarmat – Entrepreneur, Financial Expert & Resident of Lokhandwala, Kandivali
