Title: Mechanism design in computer science
Abstract: Mechanism design is a field at the borderline between economics and computer science. From a computer science perspective, the field is concerned with designing algorithms that run safely when selfish agents participate in the execution of the algorithm. After presenting a general overview of the field, focusing on recent contributions from the computer science community, I present some recent joint work with Aris Filos-Ratsikas on randomized mechanisms without money for social welfare maximization under general cardinal preferences.
Day and time: Thursday, 25 April, 14.00am
