Hi Brian.
I thought of using Facebook also. However, FB is always changing its
privacy policy and may therefor not be as "stable" of a professional
environment for us. I use Facebook, but keep my "friends" list pretty
exclusive to personal friends & family. I thought this environment
might allow for a more professional separation.
I could be entirely wrong though! I'm not a member of any
professional Facebook group, and therefor don't really know if that
site would work or not. If it's possible (and better) to host our
conversations on that site, without any of my paranoid worries turing
into reality ;o), then I'm all for it. The fewer online sites I have
to keep track of the better! My other reservation is that I don't
have access to FB while at school. It's blocked here, so I'd be
limited to access from my home computer. Others may be in the same
boat.
I'm really excited to help create a state-wide discussion about
Algebra 1 in the middle school setting though. I'm the only person in
my district doing it and I'd like to have the opportunity to chat
about strategies and obstacles we've commonly (or individually)
encountered.
Until OCTM gives me/us further direction, I say we kick this off and
see where it goes!
