The Nightfall 1 has raised the bar for 3-season mountain tents. External pitch pole architecture keeps the inner tent dry while pitching in the rain. Near vertical side walls provide huge interior space, and the Fast-Pitch option allows the inner tent body to be left behind for a super-light & very compact shelter. Designed for hunters and backpackers alike, the Nightfall 1 is ready to impress.

I welcomed the chance to review the Zpacks Triplex ultralight backpacking tent. Its versatile trekking pole setup and Dyneema Composite Fabric (DCF) make it one of the lightest, thinnest, and most reliable tents for staying dry and out of the elements.
Because adjustable trekking poles let you raise or lower the peak height, you can choose to let more or less air into the tent. For stormy nights, you can minimize humidity buildup by limiting airflow, and on hot nights you can maximize the airflow for better cooling.
I love having two doors, each with a vestibule. I mostly camp with one other person in the Triplex, so we can both enter and exit without disturbing the other. The easy access, large windows, and roomy interior make for a much better camping experience.
DCF is very thin and, thus, not super bulky, packing into a 7.6-liter sack that fits horizontally in my backpack. My previous sil-poly tent could only fit vertically in my Osprey Exos 48 backpack. When it comes to packing gear, I definitely prefer layers rather than columns.
I hope this Zpacks Triplex review has made your decision-making process a little easier. As with all backpacking gear, look for proven designs and top-quality materials. Zpacks has nailed both of those with the Triplex, so invest in a classic and enjoy warm & dry nights on the trail.

Learning to set up the rainfly properly is a must in order to maximize ventilation and keeping condensation getting the inside of the tent wet. The construction and materials have held up to over 10 uses camping. I trust it should last me a few more years of good fun! Thank you!
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review! Your feedback is invaluable to us. Good news - our product development team is already hard at work brainstorming new tent designs. We genuinely appreciate your input as it helps us create better gear for adventurers like you.
This is a great tent! The second time I used it, it rained all night long. It really poured! And yet this tent kept me completely dry with absolutely no leaking what so ever! This is one of the most important things I look for in a tent shelter. after all, it's not much good if it can't keep you dry. I got quite windy at times also, and the tent didn't move, (I did have it fully guyed out just to be sure).
Also, the floor feels very durable and there are plenty of attachment points for guy lines and to pull out the sides of the fly for good ventilation. And, speaking of ventilation, the top two vents remained fully open during the heavy rain and never leaked or pooled water. It was really great having these vents on the fly open during the rain because I was not able to keep the vestibule doors open. There was no excess condensation at all. (some, but that's almost always a given). The entire inner of the tent itself is all mesh and that helps a lot. I bought this for summer camping when the temps are warm-hot.
This tent is light and airy and very easy to set up and take down. I had no problems with that at all. The rain fly seems very durable and should keep me dry for many future adventures. I cannot speak to it's durability long term as I have only had it a couple of months now, but I have high confidence.
We believe the outdoors is there for everyone to enjoy. Whether you're blazing a new trail or just want to add a little fresh-air time to your hectic schedule, the outside world is waiting for you. We make the gear that will get you there.
I found the Superalloy pretty easy to set up. It uses one long forged pole and one small crossbar pole to form the body. The tent is at its best when fully staked out, which provides a ton of headroom. The basic setup has seven points to stake out, and the tent comes with seven stakes. It also comes with some extra cordage the user would need in order to further stake out central points at the head and foot.
The side pockets are another story. Instead of a standard top-loading pocket, these instead both load from essentially the side. They are also both sloped slightly downward. This typically resulted in the contents easily spilling out onto the tent floor. Clothing would sometimes stay bunched up in there, but about half the time my phone would fall out. This seemed to me like a pretty clear flaw, but one that would be easy to fix in future iterations.
