Dear AQuA supporter
We are letting you know about a resource the NGV’s QUEER: Stories from the NGV Collection team has collaboratively developed with the Australian Queer Archives.
‘AQuA x QUEER: Mining Queer Histories’ is a series of short films that draw out themes ranging from activism and community building to loss and resistance, with reference to artworks in QUEER and objects in AQuA’s rich collections. AQuA and NGV are joined by queer leaders and community members William Yang, Madé Spencer-Castle, Joan Nestle, Peter Waples Crowe, and Ted Gott to discuss queer ideas, experiences and histories in and beyond QUEER and AQuA.
We are thrilled to share that the resource is being launched at the Victorian Pride Centre next Thursday night, 21 July, from 6-8pm. In addition to a panel discussion about the resource, several of the films will screen, and visitors will have after-hours access to AQuA and the current exhibition Printed Protest: Graphic Activism from the Australian Queer Archives which is on display in the Victorian Pride Centre foyer.
If you are able to make it, we would love to see you at the launch. Here is a link to the webpage, where you can register your interest: https://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/program/aqua-x-queer-mining-queer-histories-launch-event/.
Kind regards
Angela
