Hopefully you have seen this blog post:
http://blogs.alfresco.com/wp/important-announcement-regarding-the-avm/

In it, the AVM finally gains clarity. In short, no new customers are being sold support subscriptions for AVM. Current customers are supported until their current release is end-of-life, but no one will be supported on AVM in Alfresco 5.

AVM remains in the community, although the download of the AVM enablement ZIP has been removed. If there are community members who wish to carry AVM forward as a separate open source add-on, we will help make that happen.

What this means for the wiki is the following:

1. I am currently working through AVM categories and pages to add "{{AVMWarning}}" to the top of every page. This invokes a template that displays an AVM deprecation warning.

2. I am removing most categories from AVM pages. Exceptions are: Version or Edition specific categories and the "AVM" category. The result will be that all AVM related pages will be found under a single "AVM" category and/or the release the pages are relevant to. This also keeps people from looking for the generic concept, "Web Content Management" and mistakenly finding pages related to a deprecated product that happens to implement WCM.

3. If the AVM is taken up as a separate open source project, we will migrate all AVM pages off of the Alfresco wiki and onto the new project's wiki. Until then, AVM pages need to remain on our wiki so that Enterprise and Community users leveraging AVM will have access to them.

As I said, I am still working through the AVM pages adding the warning. But there are a LOT of them. The AVM folks sure were prolific! So if you come across a page that is AVM-specific and it does not have the warning, please add it.
