All,
For those of you that do not know, the Mega-drive is an end of year collection. The goal of the collection is to stop residents from throwing away useful or recyclable items when they moved out for the year. Keeping that in mind we set up collection hotspots near every RA Offices for the last week of classes and finals week. We will be collections food for donation, electronics for resale or recycle, clothing mostly for donation, and anything else that can be used.
Anything that isn’t recycled or donated will be sold during Freshman Move In / the Week of Welcome. We made $700 last year which will go to sustainability issues on campus.
So here is where you all come in, the Mega’Drive is largely run by a very limited amount of people and we desperately need volunteers to help continue this event. We will be meeting to sort the items we are collection several times over the next two weeks. The first is Tuesday at 11AM, the second will be Thursday at 2pm. We will be meeting twice the following week (faculty / staff volunteers) to continue sorting. Those dates will be sent out later this week. The sorting will be done at Braddon Hall.
Thanks,
Josh Stellrecht
