Karam and Katari Chand, from Bradford, West Yorkshire, have spent almost their entire lives together as their love for each grew stronger every year. Mr and Mrs Chand were married in India at a Sikh ceremony on December 11 in 1925, when the country was under British rule. They took the title of oldest married couple when they celebrated their 88th wedding anniversary and were looking to reach 90-year mark ever since.
احتفل “كرم تشاند” البالغ من العمر (110 أعوام) مع زوجته “كارتارى” (103 أعوام) بالذكرى التسعين لزواجهما، ليحققا بذلك رقما قياسيا كأقدم زوجين في العالم.
ذكر موقع مترو أن الزوجين عقدا قرانهما في يوم 11 ديسمبر 1925 في الهند، عندما كانت البلاد لا زالت تحت الحكم البريطاني، وانتقلا إلى برادفورد عام 1965، ولديهما حاليا 8 أولاد، و27 حفيدا، و23 من أبناء الأحفاد.
وأضاف أن الزوجين يعيشان مع ابنهما الأصغر بول وزوجته واثنين من أطفالهما الأربعة، حيث أعرب بول عن سعادته لاحتفال والديه بالذكرى التسعين لهما، مؤكدا أن الوصول لهذا العمر والتمتع بصحة جيدة هو إنجاز عظيم ونعمة كبيرة لأي شخص.
