| | Dear all, Campaign against Hate Speech is organising a workshop on how to fight hate speech as a part of a National Campaign "Fighting Hate, Defending Democracy".
As you are aware we initiated an open letter (that many of you signed and circulated widely!)against the harassment of the renowned fact checker Mohammed Zubair which received over 1000+ signatures . Within no time, we saw the targeting of Nadeem Khan, APCR by the Delhi Police. They were targetted for their work of demanding accountability against hate crimes and hate speeches .

We have previously seen the targeting of human rights defenders, where they were blamed for violence that they had no role to play. We saw this in the cases against BK 16 in Bombay and the FIR 59/2020 post the Delhi program. What is happening now is a continuation of that targeting. We must fight this tooth and nail by continuing to fight the politics of hate.
In Karnataka, where we are seeing hate speeches everyday by the likes of Yatnal and Eshwarppa. In the name of exposing the "waqf Conspiracy", they are spreading fake news and hatred, thus attacking the foundational values of fraternity and the syncretic traditions of Karnataka. In this context, building our collective strength to fight this hatred legally as well as document it, becomes extremely critical.
