Dear All,
On behalf of the Center for Labour Studies (CLS) at the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore, we are pleased to invite you to our upcoming seminar titled "Shaping the Future of Work: Strengthening Protections for Gig and Platform Workers in India", to be held on Saturday, 16th November 2024 at the Ground Floor Conference Hall, Training Centre, NLSIU campus.
As you may be aware, Karnataka recently released a draft bill aimed at providing social security and other labor protections for gig and platform workers in the state. Similar bills have also been introduced in Jharkhand, and Telangana and Kerala are planning to follow suit. At the national level, the Central Government has appointed a committee to explore social security protections for gig workers across the country.
In light of this growing regulatory momentum, CLS is organizing this seminar to take stock of the various regulatory proposals, assess their adequacy, and facilitate a collective discussion on potential improvements. We aim to critically engage with these proposals and brainstorm solutions to address the challenges they present.
A more detailed concept note and agenda (subject to minor adjustments in timing) with information on the seminar panels are attached to this email for your reference.
The seminar will be conducted in hybrid format and will run from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. If you prefer to attend remotely, you may join via the following link:

We hope you will be able to join us for this seminar, and we look forward to your participation.
