Dear All,

Women face violence at homes, in the street and the workplace everyday. A very tiny fraction of these women file complaints and fewer come to court. Even for the few women who do come to court, the judicial process as we know is hostile or indifferent and rarely supportive of the women seeking justice. 

As advocates and gender-justice activists, what is it that we can do to ensure that the women who do approach court feel supported ? What are the challenges faced by  lawyers in representing women who face violence ? Do join us for the roundtable on Saturday to discuss these questions and more!

We are hoping that this discussion will be the beginning of a longer conversation about how we can encourage more women to come to the judicial system to seek accountability and justice.

ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು ಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ಬೀದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಲಸದ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಹಿಂಸೆಯನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ, ಎದುರಿಸುವ  ಹಿಂಸೆಗೆ ನ್ಯಾಯ ಕೇಳಿ,  ದೂರುಗಳನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವವರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಬಹಳ ಕಡಿಮೆ. ನ್ಯಾಯಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವ ಕೆಲವೇ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರಿಗೆ ಸಹ, ನಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿರುವಂತೆ ನ್ಯಾಯಲಯದ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆಯು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಹಿಂಸೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ.  ನ್ಯಾಯದ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆ ಮಹಿಳೆಗೆ ಬೆಂಬಲವಾಗಿ ನಿಲ್ಲುವು ಸಂಗತಿಗಳು ತೀರ ಕಡಿಮೆ. 

ವಕೀಲರು ಮತ್ತು ಮಹಿಳಾ-ಲಿಂಗ-ಲಿಂಗತ್ವ ಅಲ್ಪಸಂಖ್ಯಾತರ ಪರ ಹೊರಾಡುವ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರಾಗಿ, ನ್ಯಾಯಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರಿಗೆ, ನ್ಯಾಯದ ವ್ಯವಸ್ತೆ ಅವರು ಜೊತೆ ನಿಲ್ಲುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಖಚಿತಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ನಾವು ಏನು ಮಾಡಬಹುದು? ಹಿಂಸೆಯನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸುವ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ವಕೀಲರು ಎದುರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸವಾಲುಗಳೇನು? ಈ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನದನ್ನು ಚರ್ಚಿಸಲು ಶನಿವಾರದ ದುಂಡುಮೇಜಿನ ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿ!

ಈ ದುಂಡು ಮೇಜಿನ ಸಭೆಯು ನ್ಯಾಯಾಂಗ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ಬಲಪಡಿಸಿ, ಹಿಂಸೆ ಎದುರಿಸುವ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರಿಗೆ ನ್ಯಾಯ ದೊರಕುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ ಎಂಬುದರ ಕುರಿತು ದೀರ್ಘ ಸಂಭಾಷಣೆಯ ಆರಂಭವಾಗಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ನಾವು ಭಾವಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ.
