"My Boyfriend Is a Scam" — An Open Talk on Dating App Extortion
A community conversation for queer people navigating dating apps safely
Good As You, Swabhava and Alternative Law Forum come together to bring you an honest conversation on something we've all heard about — and some of us have lived through. A great chat, a growing connection, and then suddenly: threats, blackmail, demands for money. Dating app extortion is happening to more and more queer people, and silence only helps it continue.
Join us for an open, judgment-free conversation on:
• Why this happens — the psychology and social dynamics that predators exploit, and why queer people are often targeted
• The legal side — what your rights are and what recourse actually looks like (with legal experts from ALF)
• Real experiences — a few community members sharing their stories, so no one feels alone in this
• Moving forward — how we as a community can support each other, spot red flags earlier, and respond appropriately if it happens to you or someone you know
This isn't about fear — it's about being informed, supported, and less alone.
