Hi everybody!
As the temperature's dipped, I've found myself drawn to my oven
frequently in recent weeks. No, not in a Sylvia Plath sort of way.
I never considered myself much of the baking type until my birthday -
maybe that's what happens when you turn 25?? So far it's been homemade
cookies, pretzels, pies and a vegetarian curry. If I'm lucky I can
make some for a future gig... hmm... :)
We've got a LOT going on in the next few weeks, and I want to enlist
your help. For your ease, I've numbered the contents of this
newsletter. Checkit:
1. Alfa on the Radio!
2. Shows in NYC and NJ!
3. College Gigs!
4. Recommended listening/reading!

1. ALFA ON THE RADIO
First, Ron Olesko over at WFDU (89.1 FM) radio has a hold of my CD and
is playing it on his folk show, "Traditions." Give him a call and
request a song off "Second Skin"!
201-692-2010,
http://wfdu.fdu.edu/home.html.
I'm also being considered to be played on WFUV (90.7 FM), so give them
a call too and tell 'em to play something off the album!

2. SHOWS IN NYC + NJ
Despite my newfound love for baking, I am really excited to play a
number of gigs this month. Here are the two BIG ones you should
definitely Sharpie into your calendar:
Alfa Solo @ Best Buy (Lincoln Center)
1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13
1880 Broadway, NYC | Free, All Ages
(
www.liveatbestbuy.com)
I'll be returning to Best Buy, this time in its Lincoln Center
location. This is my third Best Buy show this year...which I think
means I've earned a Geek Squad shirt, right?
Alfa Band @ Maxwell's! (A FIRST!)
8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24
1039 Washington St., Hoboken | $8, All Ages
(
www.maxwellsnj.com)
Yes, first time at Maxwell's for me! Joined by the ever-illustrious
gentlemen in my band (Jon McElroy and Zach Jones), I will be opening
for the NJ-based New London Fire, who is celebrating its CD release.
I'd love to see you at this show, mainly because I rarely get to play
with Jon and Zach, and it's always a jolly good time when we do. BUT
also so my first time at Maxwell's can consist of a good crowd,
preferably crowd-surfing to "Isabelle" or something ironic like that.
Grab that Sharpie, mark it down, and tell all your friends on
Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn, Friendster (if you're so
inclined), etc etc!

Here's what you should get on your iTunes this week:
Sara Bareilles: "Kaleidoscope Heart"

Elvis Costello: "National Ransom"
And "What Was the Hipster?", possibly the most in-depth look at
hipsters I've ever read, on New York Magazine:

(Feel free to send suggestions my way too!)
