Stolen Bikes

Can we have our police liaison officer talk about stolen bikes at a future meeting?  What information one needs to create a successful report?  How many bikes are stolen a year?  How often unclaimed, recovered bikes are auctioned - is it up to the owner to review if their bike was recovered or does the APD notify the owner?  What’s the best venue to check to see if the bike pops up Are certain parts of town more likely be hot spots?  To include apartment complexes or condos?  etc.

Someone posted about a stolen bike in the Alx BN SOSO FB pg.   If you have solid suggestions I’ll copy and paste back on her post.

Ask for info: my bike was stolen out of my apartment building yesterday. Has anyone had their bike stolen and successfully recovered it? Any thoughts on how you made that happen? I'm sure it's a crapshoot, but the cop said bikes are recovered "all the time," so I'd love to up my chances if at all possible! Photo tax/pic of the bike in question below.

One of our neighbors, Ben Knott, here at our condo (Porto Vecchio, on the MVT) had his bike stolen from our underground garage recently. It was at the far end of the garage, but wasn't locked. The thief rode a scooter into the garage behind a car, found the unlocked bike, and rode out on it. We have video of the perpetrator, and have turned that info over to APD.   I don't believe we've had any movement towards recovery, but maybe Ben can add more info re his loss.
