Action Alert: Email City Council about Braddock Rd by Friday May 8

Hi everyone, 

Opponents to Braddock Rd have been sending the City Council a constance stream of emails complaining about the project. To counter that message, please send a short email asking them to support the staff recommendation by Friday May 8. I pasted some sample text below or you can write your own of course. 

Dear Mayor Gaskins and City Council members, 

I urge you to vote for the staff recommendation for Braddock Rd on May 16. This solution has been thoroughly vetted by city staff, generated the most support in the city's survey and was endorsed unanimously by the Traffic and Parking Board, the Environmental Policy Commission, Del Ray Citizens Association, Alexandria Families for Safe Streets and of course BPAC. The project will significantly improve safety for everyone, fill an important gap in our bicycle network, and even reduce traffic delays for drivers. Please help reject the extreme rhetoric and uncivil discourse encouraged by project opponents by supporting for the staff recommendation.

Please also attend the hearing on May 16, we need all hands on deck, or write an additional email next week if you cannot attend. Please pass the word around to your friends and neighbors in the city. 

Consider signing up for our Ride for Braddock Rd on May 10 if you have not done so already.

Quite sorry, one clarification, the word unanimous was only supposed to the Traffic & Parking Board vote, not all of the organizations listed. I removed it from the text below.
