This sounds nice.  Any further explanation of how the funding will support the bike buses?  I was under the impression that bike buses were formed and staffed by supporting parents. 

Any idea if the West End Los Tios is participating?

I believe our neighborhood bike bus has at times accepted donated bikes and helmets for kids who don’t have one; I imagine the others are doing similar stuff and could use support for things like that.

Thank you, Alex, and yes, that is correct. We have a lot of ambitious plans over the next year including purchasing bikes/helmets/locks/bells for donation; hosting events in partnership with bike shops and city agencies; start-up kits for new bike bus captains, parade fees, website hosting fees, safety gear, event give-aways, bike captain swag, bike rodeos at schools... We dream of stipends for coordinators, contributing to bike infrastructure projects, even hiring crossing guards! All made possible with extra funds.
